A really great idea - with a network of hand picked little rooms/guesthouses. If only we could have this in more city destinations! - Zoe Buck
I love Cross-Pollinate and every time we go to a new city I look to see whether they have some accommodations over there. - Arantza Aldea
The two places I have stayed at from Cross-Pollinate have been among the best across Europe. Highly recommended. - Nicholas Burn
Thanks a lot to Cross-Pollinate for the opportunity to experience a city as an insider! We really enjoyed our stay in Rome and Venice and look forward to more. - Tatiana Marchenko
Cross-Pollinate was very helpful when the owner of the B&B wanted to charge us for the baby under 2 y o. It would have been difficult without them since the owners did not speak any english. - Yulia Pichugina
This was our only stay with a C-P apartment and we were very pleased with the entire process. Will look to use them again on our next Europe trip! - Anthony Giglio

Cross-Pollinate are great - the descriptions are accurate and they are very responsive to questions. - Dominique Bayne
Cross Pollinate was just the best. I had tried a couple of places before coming upon them. As soon as I sent the first email I stopped looking for any more websites. I just wish they expanded to every city in Europe. Their knowledge, helpfulness, etc. was second to none. - Caroline Collis
Ca' Francesco - 2 bedroom
Ca' Francesco is situated right in the heart of the Jewish Ghetto of Venice (and thus also close to the train station), overlooking the square Campo Gheto Vecio. (There are three squares or 'campi' in the ghetto: the old square, the new square, and the very new -- or 'nuovissimo' -- square... and nobody really knows which one's which, but don't worry, one is next to the other!)

It's one of those typical apartments with exposed wood-beam ceiling, thick walls and history woven into it all. About 72 square meters and recently restored, it's ideal for families or small groups (up to 5 people): upon entering there are two bedrooms (one double, one single and rather small), somewhat separated from the rest of the apartment, then there's the bathroom, a washing room, the kitchen (the owner loves to cook so this one has a large stove and is well-equipped!), then there's the living room, which is long in shape, with a fold-out sofa bed.

The area surrounding the apartment, Sestiere Cannaregio, is one of the most popular and typically characteristic areas of Venice. Two minutes to the closest boat stop allows easy connections to the northern islands -- Murano, Burano and Torcello. The Grand Canal is only 200 meters from the apartment and both the Rialto and Saint Mark's Square are within easy walking distance.

The owners are very accommodating and warm people with a great sense of humor, they'll make you laugh when explaining the apartment to you!

Please note: Ca' Francesco does not accept arrivals before 14:00 and it is not possible to arrive earlier in the day to store luggage.
Located in the same building as Ca' Francesco - 1 bedroom (also on our website). The two apartments together can host up to 9 people (plus 2 cribs for babies upon request), availability permitting.

My husband I loved this apartment. It was our first trip to Venice, and staying at Alessandra's apartment made it an even more memorable first visit. There is nothing better than having a comfortable, quiet place to return to after a long day. The description on the website is accurate; in fact I think that it is even nicer than the description. We look forward to returning in the future.
Really nothing of any importance.
We have always had a great experience with Cross-Pollinate. My only wish is that they had apartments in every European Country. I literally plan my trips so that I can work with them.
Lisa Montemuro on Jul 2016:

The flat was wonderful! Great location, air conditioning, a nice amount of space, and a washing machine. The owner provided thorough information.
Everything worked out well. We were able to communicate with the owner ahead of time and she met us as scheduled.
Karen Hufman on Jun 2016:

Great location. It was in a very quiet part of Venice but easy to get to major points of interest. Our contact did take the time to explain how to get everywhere with a good map.
Could only use the a/c until 10pm and after that we had to keep the windows open. Venice wasn't too hot when we were there so it wasn't too big of an issue and we understood the age of a building doesn't always allow for modern amenities.
We had to miss a night of our trip and my email didn't reach our contact (not sure why) but everything turned out all right in the end.
Jessica on Mar 2016:

We absolutely adored this apartment - I felt like I wanted to move in. It was comfortable for our family of four, & we loved the quiet neighborhood. It's not too far from the train station, which is nice for hauling luggage. If your itinerary means you'll be spending all your time in/around the St. Mark's end of Venice, however, be aware that it takes awhile to get there from this apartment, either on foot or by vaporetto, so allow plenty of time.
Using Cross-Pollinate was easy, & I really liked knowing that all the properties were vetted.
Linda Owen on Apr 2015:

everything about this place was perfect , the location, the facilities , the size of the apartment, would recomend it highly.
Very good , will use again,
Suzy on Jun 2015:

The neighborhood was wonderful - quiet, and away from tourists. The apartment was much bigger than others we had stayed in. It was very comfortable and well-stocked. It was very clean and nicely decorated. Alessandra (host) was wonderful. Very knowledgeable and helpful - she spent a lot of time going over everything with us, and her English was very good, so it was easy to communicate with her. We would stay there again if we are ever in Venice! This was our favorite location compared to our other Cross Pollinate stays on our Europe trip.
Nothing - it was excellent.
Easy, organized, efficient.
Mike on Apr 2015:

Great place. I liked the location because it was near the train station and Piazzale Roma, which made arriving by train in Venice and then taking a taxi out to the airport a few days later very convenient. It is also a little off the beaten "Tourist" path, in (or very near) the Jewish Ghetto which I prefer to the madness near St. Mark's. There were plenty of shops and restaurants around too. The apartment itself is very nicely kept up and decorated. Everything worked as it should, including the washing machine and wireless internet. The owner Alesandra met us there and checked us in. She was super helpful and very pleasant, spending time with us explaining how everything worked and pointing out helpful things on our map, like the nearest ATM's, groceries, etc... Overall, I would highly recommend this apartment.
My only concerns/warnings are to people my height or taller. I am 6'3 and there are a couple spots in the apartment (not the entire apartment) that you will hit your head if not careful. I didn't do any serious damage, but in two days while trying to be careful, I still managed to bonk my head a couple times, never badly. So if you are 6' or under you are probably fine, but anything taller than me and you better be careful. The only other thing to be aware of is that the only place your cell phone will get cellular service is with the street facing window open leaning slightly out the window, otherwise the walls are too thick and you'll get no service. This was not a problem for us but could be for some I suppose.

Size, location
Very good experience
laura sau on Apr 2015:

The position is ideal, very close to train station and far from the confusion of the crowd. The house is cosy and comfortable.
I used it twice, and it's astonishingly working!
Lauren Smith on Sep 2014:

We met Cassandra as soon as we arrived at the apartment. She was very kind to us, and very informative as to our activities in Venice. The apartment is centrally located and very comfortable with great air conditioning.
The towels were very coarse.
Amanda B. on Aug 2014:

Location, owner, layout of the apartment. All fantastic :)
Beds were a little uncomfortable and the air conditioner didn't work well.
Always amazing. Every time we use cross pollinate we have an amazing adventure!!
Beth on Jun 2014:

Excellent location- especially being so close to the train station, owner incredibly thorough and friendly, very clean and comfortable, loved being in a neighborhood amongst local Venetian families
Very organized and helpful, there were no hidden costs when we checked in- which was delightful, will definitely use Cross-Pollinate again!
Michael on May 2014:

A little cute apartment with two bedrooms in an interesting area, safe, well maintained, bedrooms are quiet, the kitchen is well equipped, a small supermarket is located nearby.
The ceiling is rather low for a tall person in one area of the apartment, maybe some kind of warning should remind to exercise caution when entering this area.
My experience is positive, the website is easy to use and quite informative.
Nancy Rocks on Oct 2013:

SPACIOUS!!! Best, largest shower we experienced in Italy. Everything was very clean. Owner met us at appointed time and was helpful with providing a map and answering questions. We were very comfortable there. Neighbor was not very Jewish (non-kosher places to eat all around) nor Ghetto (we loved walking around there). When I printed out our confirmation, there were perfect, easy to follow walking directions from the train station. The apartment had a real kitchen with tons of pots, pans, dishes, glassware, dishwasher, etc.
I wasn't clear where the queen sleeper sofa bed was. It was in the living room. It was pretty comfortable. The room with the twin bed had a large closet with dresser drawers opposite the bed.
Great service, have already recommended it to many people heading to Europe.
Richard Neuman on Sep 2013:

Location, near to train station so easy walk without need for vaporetto or water taxi. Shopping and restaurants nearby. Clean and comfortable. Well equipped. Good value. Discount at the owners restaurant was nice!
A small trash can/pail in the bathroom. Maybe a "watch your head" sign on the low lintel on one doorway?
Easy to use and will use again to locate rentals. Glad I found reference to your site in the Rick Steves travel book.
marilyn franklin on Sep 2013:

Location/space in the apt/willingness of owner to let us store our bags earlier than check in time
Have been great ánd very helpfull
Brodie on Aug 2013:

The apartment is very spacious and comfortable for 4. It was very clean and the kitchen was well stocked which is great because we love to cook. It is located in a great area with lots of beautiful bakeries and shops around. Also close to the train station, which is handy.
Everything worked well and I liked that each apartment can be compared on an equal footing. The only thing I don't like is paying the balance in cash. I'd rather have it deducted from my credit card after arrival.
patrice on Jul 2013:

Alessandra was a lovely host.
Fans in every room, please!
Laura Elkins on Jun 2013:

It was in a fairly quiet part of town. The kitchen and bedrooms were perfect for our needs. The owner was very helpful in helping us find a market and get situated. She was very accomodating in allowing us to leave our luggage on the day we were leaving.
Stacey on Jun 2013:

Location and everything was perfect!
Some way to eliminate the Mosquitos! They ate us alive but I think this is all of Venice. :)
Easy! Steve has been wonderful. We still have 2 more apartments on this trip. I would be overjoyed if they are all as great as this one! Steve has been very helpful finding us affordable accommodations.
anonymous on May 2013:
Lovely clean apartment, met by owner who showed us around everything. Comfortable beds, had 1 bedroom apartment for 4 and was plenty big enough with roll out bed in the lounge. Central area, easy to get around everywhere.
anonymous on May 2013:

The owner, Alessandra, was very friendly and helpful - giving us tips for things to see. Kitchen well equipped with modern appliances. Will stay here again on return trips to Venice!
Nothing, apartment was perfect.
Apartment was exactly as described, very clean and conveniently located. This trip was my first experience with Cross-Pollinate, I booked two stays through it this trip. I will be using the site again - just wish you had more cities available!
anonymous on May 2013:

The place was very quaint. It was very spacious given that there were five of us. The neighborhood was very local, therefore you can see how they go about their daily routine, although tourists abound. The kitchen was very well equipped, the bathroom a bit small though. The owner Alessandra was the one who greeted us and gave us a lot of tips in and around Venezia.
The posting of this accommodation plus the pictures were accurate.
anonymous on Mar 2013:

The location is awesome. Quaint accommodations and a lovely hostess who imparts great info and speaks good English.
The heater is a bit noisy and the hot water runs out quickly, but nothing insurmountable. Definitely better for two people rather than three. It's quaint but tiny.
I LOVE this website and will gladly recommend it to anyone headed this way. Nothing disappointed us!
anonymous on Oct 2011:

We have stayed in this apartment 4 or 5 times and it's always great. The kitchen is fully equipped for cooking, and the owners always lend us a shopping trolley for going to the market. When you combine it with the apartment next door you can have a group of up to 9 and, with other friends staying close by, we have had dinner for 12 in the spacious lounge/dining room.
I have been using Cross-Pollinate for about 10 years now for accommodation in Italy. The service is consistently great and I can always find just the kind of apartment we like, at the right price.
