I LOVE this website and will gladly recommend it to anyone headed this way. Nothing disappointed us! - Mary-Iris Taylor

A really great idea - with a network of hand picked little rooms/guesthouses. If only we could have this in more city destinations! - Zoe Buck
I love Cross-Pollinate and every time we go to a new city I look to see whether they have some accommodations over there. - Arantza Aldea
The two places I have stayed at from Cross-Pollinate have been among the best across Europe. Highly recommended. - Nicholas Burn
Thanks a lot to Cross-Pollinate for the opportunity to experience a city as an insider! We really enjoyed our stay in Rome and Venice and look forward to more. - Tatiana Marchenko
Cross-Pollinate was very helpful when the owner of the B&B wanted to charge us for the baby under 2 y o. It would have been difficult without them since the owners did not speak any english. - Yulia Pichugina
This was our only stay with a C-P apartment and we were very pleased with the entire process. Will look to use them again on our next Europe trip! - Anthony Giglio
Great web site and quick response from the team a CP made the whole experience easy and hassle free. I have already recommended CP to quite of few of my airline industry colleagues and I'm sure they will make use of their excellent service. - Shane Pickles
Cross-Pollinate was extremely helpful! They found us a place to stay in our price range when many other places of business couldn't help us. - Sarah Seminutin
Cross-Pollinate was very easy to use, and it is so much better to stay in places like these than big corporate hotels; you get a much better feel for the place. - Kaspar Deane
Very straight forward. Well done. Definitely would use it again. Love these type of alternatives to hotels! - John White
Cross-Pollinate was fantastic and easy to use. We used Cross-Pollinate to book a room in Florence (the second leg of our trip), which was everything I thought it would be. We have recommended Cross-Pollinate to our friends. - Barbara Carlin
Cross-Pollinate are great - the descriptions are accurate and they are very responsive to questions. - Dominique Bayne
Cross Pollinate was just the best. I had tried a couple of places before coming upon them. As soon as I sent the first email I stopped looking for any more websites. I just wish they expanded to every city in Europe. Their knowledge, helpfulness, etc. was second to none. - Caroline Collis
Studio Canal
Studio Canal is an independent, recently renovated 20-square-meter studio. It's pretty tiny, but also pretty functional: a very small kitchenette, a bathroom with shower and a queen-sized bed.
Situated on the first floor, it's romantically furnished with a wrought iron bed, crystal night stands, a table with chairs, and wardrobe with mirror.

The area: you're close to where the vaporettos leave for the different islands of Venice (Murano islands, Lido, etc.) and for the Marco Polo airport, the train station, piazzale Roma (where there is a car park and buses that leave Venice), and other parts of the city. It's just a short walk from the neighborhood Fondamenta Nuove, where you can find all sorts of pizzerias, restaurants, and wine bars, and take a nice walk along the lagunas. In just a 5-minute walk you can be at the famous Rialto bridge and its outdoor market, and in 10 minutes at beautiful piazza San Marco. The area is still full of local artisans, so you'll see old-fashioned typography, woodworking, blacksmith, marble cutting, glass working, antique, and leather working studios and workshops. It's a close walk from Campo San Bartolomeo and the Mercerie area with big brand-name stores. It's also near the churches San Giovanni e Paolo, Chiesa dei Miracoli (which was constructed with the remaining marble from San Marco's Basilica) -- where many couples celebrate their weddings, Chiesa dei Gesuiti, and Chiesa dei SS Apostoli.

Pricey but adorable, fully stocked little flat in a quiet section of Venice. It comes with stove and mini-fridge so you could cook your own food or store/reheat leftovers. Plenty of hot water in a clean bathroom.
The neighbors were a bit noisy stomping around - perhaps a small child.
Easy and helpful way to sort through myriad options.

Quiet location and good bed.
A few more dishes would be nice.
Wonderful place to stay in Venice! Besides being super adorable, spotless and very easy to find from Fondamenta Nuove, Studio Canal had the most comfortable bed and quietest neighborhood in our 16 night stay in Italy! Owners are very easy to communicate with.

Tiny room. Good location.

A little on the outskirts of Venice, but the price we got beat anything else staying on the island, and was just as cheap as many of the places on the mainland. I highly recommend staying on the island if you're going to be there a couple of days; you can wander the streets as late as you'd like and not have to worry about catching the train back to your hotel/B&B. When doing these late-night wanderings, this area of Venice felt safer than some of the other large cities we stayed in. The room/building/area was nice and quiet even for an afternoon nap. Available fridge and sparse kitchen/breakfast area were nice to have.
The directions to the place from Santa Lucia Station may have been accurate, but I think we missed a turn somewhere and got very lost. The Vaporetto service makes it easy to get around Venice quickly, but once you're back on the streets, it is very difficult to follow a map from "Point A" to "Point B". With the high buildings, canals everywhere, and few bridges where you want them, it can be very tricky to get where you want to go, even with a GPS. This isn't really an issue with Studio Canal, though; just a note if you haven't been to Venice before - follow route directions exactly!
We had never traveled in Italy before, and I was a little hesitant to use recommendations and make payments for a bunch of random B&B's through a website I had never heard of. We booked through Cross-Pollinate in Rome, Florence, and Venice, and everything went perfectly. Descriptions and pricing were accurate, and most importantly, our reservations were all in place when we arrived!

The location was nicely removed from the main tourist path. Canals were hidden all around as well as the vaparetto being nearby. It's a bit of a walk though, from any of the desired must-see things, so be sure to have your walking shoes.
We had a great time here, being so close to the canals, yet so removed from the crowds. No improvements needed as far as we were concerned. It was lovely to be able to go to local markets and come back here and prepare a dinner yourself (we love to cook).
