Casa Carlo Goldoni
This place is special in so many ways: not only has it been the residence (and his favorite, it is said) of one of Italy's most famous dramatists (Carlo Goldoni) but the tradition of fine arts is still alive: this place is furnished and decorated thanks to the skills of three generations of crafty men of the same family: Nicola (who manages the apartment), his brother and his father. You'll discover all these little secrets upon check-in, but let me tell you there are beautiful wood carvings, paintings, mosaics... all handmade by them! I couldn't stop 'wowing' when walking through this place. Regrettably, the pictures don't fully reflect it but that means you'll have even more to discover upon arrival!

Location, location, location. True, all of Venice is pretty central, but here you are around the corner from Saint Mark's square, but nonetheless in a quiet area and the apartment itself is accessed through a courtyard with a door that can be locked.

The apartment itself consists of a ground-floor entrance area with double sofabed, eating area and kitchenette (all the appliances are modern, new, and great quality). On the second level is a bedroom and bathroom (with whirlpool tub).

Nicola and his brother own this flat and have lived here together for many years, and are now sharing the apple of their eye with people who will appreciate its beauty (and comfort! Remember the whirlpool tub?).

James Held on Aug 2013:

The unique and intriguing decor; the location; the excellence of furnishings and equipment; the helpfulness of the owner. After we checked out, we boarded our cruise ship. With only 2 hours until it sailed, we discovered we had left a substantial amount of money in the unit's safe. We were able to contact Nicola, and I left the ship, met him at the unit, retrieved the money, and returned to the ship in time. Thanks, Nicola. Nicola also recommended Silvia Capriata as a guide to Venice. She developed an itinerary specially for us and our grandchildren and gave us a marvelous day of walking around Venice. On our own, we could not have done so efficiently (we had only one full day in Venice), and her knowledge and attention to the kids (ages 8 and 5) was wonderful. I heartily recommend her for visitors who want an experienced guide to Venice. Contact her a couple of weeks or more before you go to the magical city of Venice (silviacapriata@yahoo.it.)
Can't think of anything.
I like being presented with living spaces that have been filtered by your review staff for quality. The process of renting was smooth and went off without a hitch.

Uniqueness, great artistic features, great location, the AC really worked, small workable kitchen-w/ dishwasher, washing machine. The ower / agent did suggest a person to provide a city tour. This tour was the best experience we had in Venice, truly excellent. Her name was Silvia Capriata.
Floors needed to be mopped. There were no wine glasses and when the agent was asked where they were, he asked, "What is a wine glass?" That answer was unbelievable. Italy is one of the great wine countries in the world and he asked what a wine glass is, did not have them and did not provide them. I thought that could have been better. Yet he did meet us, greet us, and accompany us to the B&B; he did have his Mom deliver some supplies which were missing, he did introduce us to Silvia and he is a great Tango dancer. Additionally, Nicola's website and visual directions to the B&B were very helpful.
This is a wonderful, easy to use site, with lots of listings. They did a great job of communicating with me and the owner.
