A really great idea - with a network of hand picked little rooms/guesthouses. If only we could have this in more city destinations! - Zoe Buck
I love Cross-Pollinate and every time we go to a new city I look to see whether they have some accommodations over there. - Arantza Aldea
The two places I have stayed at from Cross-Pollinate have been among the best across Europe. Highly recommended. - Nicholas Burn
Thanks a lot to Cross-Pollinate for the opportunity to experience a city as an insider! We really enjoyed our stay in Rome and Venice and look forward to more. - Tatiana Marchenko
Cross-Pollinate was very helpful when the owner of the B&B wanted to charge us for the baby under 2 y o. It would have been difficult without them since the owners did not speak any english. - Yulia Pichugina

Cross-Pollinate was fantastic and easy to use. We used Cross-Pollinate to book a room in Florence (the second leg of our trip), which was everything I thought it would be. We have recommended Cross-Pollinate to our friends. - Barbara Carlin
Cross-Pollinate are great - the descriptions are accurate and they are very responsive to questions. - Dominique Bayne
Cross Pollinate was just the best. I had tried a couple of places before coming upon them. As soon as I sent the first email I stopped looking for any more websites. I just wish they expanded to every city in Europe. Their knowledge, helpfulness, etc. was second to none. - Caroline Collis
Appartamento Rachele
Appartamento Rachele is a one-bedroom, one-bathroom apartment, perfect for a family or small group of friends: one bedroom has a queen bed, and there's a queen-sized sofabed in the entrance/living room area with kitchenette ( take note: whoever sleeps on the sofa bed will not get a lot of privacy, as the bed is located in the second room of the apartment which is entrance/living room/kitchen all in one!)

The apartment has been completely restructured in elegant and typically Venetian style.
It's owned by the same family as Ca' Riccio B&B (also on our website, and just around the corner). The owners and staff of the B&B are super nice and helpful, so there is always someone on hand in case you need assistance (at the B&B reception).

It's located in a very convenient area: close to where the vaporettos leave for the different islands of Venice (Murano islands, Lido, etc) and for the Marco Polo airport, the train station, Piazzale Roma (where there is a car park and buses that leave Venice), and other parts of the city. It's just a short walk from the neighborhood Fondamenta Nuove, where you can find all sorts of pizzerias, restaurants, and wine bars, and take a nice walk along the lagunas. In just a 5-minute walk you can be at the famous Rialto bridge and its outdoor market, and in 10 minutes at beautiful Piazza San Marco. The area is still full of local artisans, so you'll see old-fashioned typography, woodworking, blacksmith, marble cutting, glass working, antique, and leather working studios and workshops. It's a close walk from Campo San Bartolomeo and the Mercerie area with big brand-name stores. It's also near the churches San Giovanni e Paolo, Chiesa dei Miracoli (which was constructed with the remaining marble from San Marco's Basilica) where many couples celebrate their weddings, Chiesa dei Gesuiti, and Chiesa dei SS Apostoli.

Kimberly on Sep 2014:

The appartment was very well located.
The bed was very hard and the sofa bed was very unconfortable and squeaky.

My brother and I stayed at Apartamento Rachele and found it to be very comfortable and nice. The location is good, very easy to access from the train station and vapparettos. It is just a 1 minute walk from Fondamente Nove bus stop, and 10 minutes to the Rialto Bridge. It's in a quiet little neighborhood with several nice little shops and restaurants. Very good wi-fi connection too. We liked being away from the crowds but all the action is very easy to get to!
A "how to" on how to get the hot water to work would be helpful. It was pretty simple, but just needed to be turned on.
We used cross pollinate for 2 of our stays in Italy, and they were "spot on" as far as what we found when we stayed at the apartments.

We loved the quiet area of Venice. The owner met us promptly at the dock.
The sofa bed was very uncomfortable for two nights. We went with another couple who slept in the bedroom. I was dissappointed that there was not a washer.

This apartment was close to the Fondamente Nova which made it convenient to get to while being off the beaten path. The bathroom was large and well appointed. The apartment had very good windows which closed tight for a quiet night. The staff was very friendly and accomodating. Linens were well provided.
Unfortunately we ran out of hot water after the first day and it never came back. I recommend asking the staff to explain how the hot water works. This apartment is much cuter than the pictures indicate.
Once again Cross-pollinate made the reservation a breeze and they had many choices for us in Venice at a busy time.

It could have been that it was switched off - electric water heaters in Italian apartments always have a switch in the bathroom and sometimes people mistakenly turn it off.

It was very comfortable; our hosts served a nice, light breakfast daily and it was close to the ferry for transportation purposes.
Loved having the opportunity to utilize Cross-Pollinate lodgings in Venice, Florence and Rome. Will use them again.

The location and size of the unit. It was very comfortable for 3 people.
The water heater ran out of hot water frequently and there was no wifi in the apartment though we were told there was. We needed to go to the owners home several blocks away to access the internet.

i loved this apartment. we only stayed for a couple of nights but it was perfect, beds comfortable and entire place is super clean. It was easy to find, right near the ferry dock and was in a quiet residential area. It is a bit of a walk from the main hussle and bussle but we didnt care. venice is all about spending your days outside and walking around enjoying the sights. coming home to our apartment was just that, coming home.
directions to apartment, especially late at night
easy to use and book. would use again
