Rome Metropolitan Guesthouse
Rome Metropolitan Guesthouse is a very simple, almost hostel-like guesthouse. It consists of 4 rooms with 1 bath and a kitchen on one floor and 2 rooms with a shared bath and kitchen on another floor.

The rooms are simple and clean, with no luxuries, but Marco, the owner who has a coffee bar down the street, is a good source of information and available when needed. Guests staying at Rome Metropolitan receive breakfast vouchers for the bar. As twenty-something Romans, Marco prides himself on knowing where to go for the authentic, cheap, and cool side of Rome.

The neighborhood, the north side of Termini Station, is known for its convenience, both in getting in and out of the city as well as getting around to all the sites of Rome. Since 2000, with the big Holy Year Jubilee, this neighborhood has been constantly renovated and is very safe and well maintained. Not as densely populated with restaurants and cafés as the historic center, but there are some places we highly recommend: the Neapolitan restaurant and pizzeria "Meid in Nepols" on Via Varese, and the well-known wine bar/restaurant "Trimani" on Via Goito. The extensive bus and subway network hub of Termini are only a few blocks away, so getting around is easy, and there are plenty of services for tourists -- internet points, laundromats, pharmacy, etc.

- Located very close to Roma Termini and bus station - Kitchen was a great option because we were there for 6 nights - Breakfast was tasty and I really liked having a good cappuccino in the morning - Marco was friendly and gave us some good tips when we arrived
- There was one bathroom for the guesthouse and probably 8 or more people there when we were staying there - not a dealbreaker or that uncommon but something to be aware of if you are thinking of staying there - This is a property where you have to meet with the owner, who is off site, in order to check in. This means that your arrival has to be exactly timed OR you must be able to contact the owner when you arrive. That may not be an issue for people travelling within the EU but when roaming costs are high for international travelers it can be more difficult. Everyone managed to meet up with the owner eventually but something to beware of when booking transportation to Rome..

The host was great! Very helpful and friendly. I loved the included breakfast. I would recommend this place
The bathrooms were dirty. No fault to the host. They were cleaned daily. I believe I came at a time where other guess weren't considerate. Always a gamble with shared baths

Location, price, owner's guidance, doppio espresso to start the day.
I had a late flight into Rome, arriving at Termini around 1.00 am. I outlined the arrival time in my reservation. The instructions for accessing the guesthouse had some errors and omissions. Instructions for arrival included ringing the guesthouse buzzer for access. The building entrance had no nameplate and buzzer for the guesthouse. The instructions did not indicate which floor the guesthouse was located. There was zero signage to indicate the guesthouse was located in the building. After an exploration of the building, and assistance from other accommodation staff, we located the correct floor. My key was being held in the hotel on the same floor, but no mention of this hotel was made in the instructions. Some clarity would assist travellers in the small hours of the morning.
Great site, very navigable, descriptive listings.

The room is in a good location, and was fairly quiet. The shared area was quite nice for a bit of relaxing, and it's handy having a fridge.
The bed was not fit to be slept in. Luckily there was another single bed in the room I could use, because the mattress is oversized and the base broken so the double bed is extremely uncomfortable for two, it badly caves in to the middle. Terrible first night's sleep! The owner was over an hour late - when you're arriving at six pm having to wait until half seven to get the keys to your room means a good part of the evening is wasted waiting. The bathroom needs to be cleaned more regularly, no soap or handtowels.
Unfortunately could not recommend this room.

I loved the position of this flat -which is at the doorstep of Termini station, and from there you can take a train to the other places.
I feel that the kitchen needs a few more cups and plates, as the flat can accommodate about 6 people at a time.
I had a great stay at the Rome Metropolitan guesthouse, and Marco, the owner was exceptionally pleasant and accommodating.
Juval on May 2011:

Marco is great! Very accommodating and helpful. Their cafe/bar is just down the street and serves a fantastic Cappuccino and a tasty breakfast. The location is also excellent and so close to Rome\'s main train station. Marco and Alessandra thanks again for everything. Hope to see you again in the future!
Good program. Thanks for everything.
