La Lupa in Trastevere Guesthouse
This is a nice and fairly new guesthouse right by the Trastevere train station, so super convenient for whoever needs to arrive/depart from Fiumicino airport (there is a direct train which takes about 40 minutes and costs 8 Euros). It's only about 100 meters from that train station, and a tramway (which runs every 5-10minutes) takes you directly to the heart of the historic center in less than 20 minutes.

The building is from the beginning of the 19th century with a nice communal garden, which you are welcome to use (wifi works out here) and if you're lucky to be there in the summer you might get to pick some fruit from its trees (hmm, tree-picked apricots..).

The owner is very passionate about travels and tourism and has worked in the sector (??) for over 20 years. Although she does not live on the premises, she lives right across the street so can always be there in case of need.

There are 4 rooms, all with private ensuite bathroom and all newly renovated and in great shape. Some of the rooms overlook the garden and some the street.. unfortunately we can't guarantee which room you'll be in.

The neighborhood has lots of things to offer if you give it some time (great little eateries and markets, it's a typically residential/commercial neighborhood, not touristy!) and on Sundays Rome's biggest market, Porta Portese, starts basically right in the street it's on.
If you don't have much time, it's still a good choice because of how well it's connected to the center and airport.

It's only a few minutes walk away from Testaccio, a neighborhood well known for its nightlife and its "Romanness". Trastevere center is also walkable (20 minutes) or easy to reach by tramway.

Location is great. Close to trams, buses and Trastevere Train Station. Lots of restaurants and bars nearby. Great shower. Clean room. Sabrina was terrific.
nothing
I've always had a great experience using CP. Even when I had an emergency need to get a room in Rome at the last minute, Linda at CP helped me out right away!

Very clean and friendly. Helpful to have some coffee, milk, sugar and tea available when we arrived. Location was perfect, out of the very crowded part of central Rome, but easily accessible by tram so that you could still be in central Rome within 20 minutes. Kitchen facilities were very good and we were able to cook several simple meals in the kitchen.
Arrangements to meet up with owner initially. As we were travelling from overseas it was not possible to have a phone with the needed SIM card available to us on our evening arrival. We let the owner know this and also tried to communicate by e-mail before we left home what time we would arrive. We arrived within 20 minutes of the projected time, but the owner was not at the apartment. Fortunately the little restaurant across the street was still open, the owner kindly phoned our hostess for us and she was able to come within about 10 minutes. I do no know how we could have done things differently as without a european phone we seemed to have no other way of coordinating the hook up.
Would prefer being able to pay using credit card before we arrived. Arranging for and carrying cash in Euro's was somewhat more difficult than being able to pay before arrival.

EASY TO GET TO THE CITY CENTER. NEIGHBORHOOD WAS GOOD. EVEN THOUGH OUR ROOM FACED THE STREET, NOISE WAS NOT A PROBLEM. BATHROOM WAS CLEAN AND UPDATED. EASY ACCESS TO USE THE KITCHEN. BED COMFORTABLE. WOULD DEFINETLY RECOMMEND THIS APT TO EVERYONE.
ROOM IS SMALLER THAN PICTURED BUT NO BIG DEAL. SHOWER AREA VERY SMALL. NO ROOM TO MOVE AROUND.
VERY HELPFUL WHILE RENTING THIS APT.

Clean, spacious, air conditioning, kitchen with small table.
Next time I would probably stay closer to the Trastevere center, but this location was ideal for catching a train to the airport.
An on Feb 2015:

efficient registration procedure, Steve's and Cristina's helpfulness (the Beehive), housing accomodation
just a tiny thing: the lock of the front door is a bit "stubborn"

Clean and secure room, comfy bed, hot showers, TV, air conditioning, fast wi-fi, kitchen, breakfast voucher for nearby cafe, and really great price. La Lupa is in a great position, very near to Trastevere train station (trains to airport, termini and the S. Pietro for the vatican), on tram line number 8 (to Piazza Venezia for the forum and city centre), plus loads of buses, so was able to get around all of Rome easily (bought a travel pass). Plenty of shops nearby to buy groceries, take aways, and a couple of restaurants - plus loads more a couple of minutes on the tram into Trastevere district. Found it completely safe walking around the area at all times of day and night.
Nothing really.
Cross-Polinate were great, I emailed them looking for accommodation, they replied quickly with some suggestions, and booking was simple and secure.
