Unbelievably friendly and warm staff who gladly gave expert travel advice and recommendations that only a Roman would normally be privy to. - Loic Diels
I LOVE this website and will gladly recommend it to anyone headed this way. Nothing disappointed us! - Mary-Iris Taylor

A really great idea - with a network of hand picked little rooms/guesthouses. If only we could have this in more city destinations! - Zoe Buck
I love Cross-Pollinate and every time we go to a new city I look to see whether they have some accommodations over there. - Arantza Aldea
The two places I have stayed at from Cross-Pollinate have been among the best across Europe. Highly recommended. - Nicholas Burn
Thanks a lot to Cross-Pollinate for the opportunity to experience a city as an insider! We really enjoyed our stay in Rome and Venice and look forward to more. - Tatiana Marchenko
Cross-Pollinate was very helpful when the owner of the B&B wanted to charge us for the baby under 2 y o. It would have been difficult without them since the owners did not speak any english. - Yulia Pichugina
This was our only stay with a C-P apartment and we were very pleased with the entire process. Will look to use them again on our next Europe trip! - Anthony Giglio

Cross-Pollinate was very easy to use, and it is so much better to stay in places like these than big corporate hotels; you get a much better feel for the place. - Kaspar Deane
Very straight forward. Well done. Definitely would use it again. Love these type of alternatives to hotels! - John White
Cross-Pollinate was fantastic and easy to use. We used Cross-Pollinate to book a room in Florence (the second leg of our trip), which was everything I thought it would be. We have recommended Cross-Pollinate to our friends. - Barbara Carlin
Cross-Pollinate are great - the descriptions are accurate and they are very responsive to questions. - Dominique Bayne
Cross Pollinate was just the best. I had tried a couple of places before coming upon them. As soon as I sent the first email I stopped looking for any more websites. I just wish they expanded to every city in Europe. Their knowledge, helpfulness, etc. was second to none. - Caroline Collis
Vale's B & B
In Vale's B & B you get to enjoy a true family tradition that has travelled for thousands of miles! Valeria has hospitality running through her veins, given that she was brought up on an island in Croatia, with her family in the hospitality business. She's lived in Rome for two decades, and is glad to have brought this piece of home with her and to still be able to care for travelers.

She offers an air-conditioned guestroom (which is independent so it's almost like having a studio apartment, except there's no kitchen) with a large terrace. Located in a residential area, not in the historic center but well-connected: the tramway which runs basically to Piazza Venezia (Largo Arenula) is about a 15-minute walk away, and walking 15 minutes in the opposite direction you will find yourself in one of Rome's greatest parks: Villa Pamphili (it's huge and is a jogger's haven!)

There is a train stop close by (also about a 15-minute walk) with trains taking you directly to the Vatican and Trastevere stations, and to a stop where you can switch to the metro ('A' line), and there's also a bus stop (a 5-minute walk) which will take you directly to the city center (passing through Trastevere). For those who enjoy walking, the Gianicolo hill, one of the greatest viewpoints over Rome, is a little less than a mile away.

The street where Vale's B & B is located is busy, but the apartment faces the opposite side where it looks over trees and a large Roman stairway, so it feels calm and close to nature.

The room is on the sixth (top) floor (with elevator), and has a small entrance area as well as a funky '70s bathroom (it's not '70s design-- it's actually from the seventies, but well-maintained!) and a bright, colorful bedroom. There's no kitchen, but Valeria will serve you breakfast at whatever time you wish (to be enjoyed on your private terrace -- or in bed!) and there's a great little ice cream place right next to the entrance of the apartment building (with Sicilian specialties such as various types of 'granita'), and next to that a pizzeria (pizza by the slice) with yet more specialities (such as the Sicilian "Panelle", made of chickpea flour, and rather hard to find anywhere outside Sicily!)

When booking this property, keep in mind that you are getting a private guestroom (with separate entrance, but no kitchen) that is so independent it feels like a studio apartment, but you are NOT centrally located. Getting to the city center will take you at least 30-40 minutes.

Reviews
Jinny on May 2015:

Super
Michelle on Apr 2015:

The terrace is huge with a nice view. Valeria is very sweet. Even though there's no kitchen, it feels like your own apartment. Very quiet at night.
The pillows could be softer.
Fantastic!
Tyron (South Africa) on Jun 2014:

It's spacious, clean and comfortable. It's very private as you access it straight from the lift lobby. The balcony was great to sit on during the warm evenings. We found chocolates and wafers each day in our room which was a nice touch.
It would have been nice to have had a kettle in the room so that we could have made ourselves some tea or coffee.
Excellent service.
