Appartamento Domus Aurea is perfect for those who want to be centrally located but avoid staying in the most heavily touristed areas. It's a quick 10-minute walk from the Colosseum, the ancient ruins of the Roman Forum, and the Domus Aurea, and just around the corner from the lovely Colle Oppio park that overlooks the Colosseum. The rest of the tourist sights in historic center are easily reachable by foot, subway or bus. Both the blue line metro at Colosseo and red line metro at Manzoni are close by - so getting to Termini, the Spanish Steps and the Vatican is easy.
The apartment -- which the owner rents when she is out of town and lives in the rest of the year -- has 1 bedroom with a double bed, making it the perfect size for a couple or 1 person traveling alone. There's also a living room, bathroom, washing machine, and eat-in kitchen stocked with fridge, stove, and all utensils needed to cook basic meals. The apartment stays quiet both during the day and at night, as it's located in a very tranquil pedestrian square containing the ruins of the Temple of Isis, where traffic is not permitted.
Check in takes place at The Beehive hotel, two blocks from Termini, where guests receive the keys and instructions and can then come and go to the apartment as they please.
