Piccola Venere Apartment
Monti is one of my favorite neighborhoods in Rome. It's totally the postcard Rome you imagine with narrow, cobblestone streets and ivy covered buildings. But because it's detached from the rest of the historic center, it doesn't get the same kinds of crowds. It's a popular, hip area, with great food and little boutiques, but it's also down to Earth. There are small artisans and traditional restaurants as well. It's convenient - a short walk to the Colosseum, or to Termini, or into the historic center, and it's well connected by buses along via Nazionale and Via Cavour, as well as the blue line subway at Cavour.

The Piccola Venere apartment is in a particular spot of Monti, overlooking Augustus' Forum at the end of the street - as you can see from the pictures, is the Arco dei Pantani that was the only entrance into the Temple of Marte Ultore, which dates back to 45 BC. This was the site where the Senate would meet. The apartment itself is super quiet with double paned windows that face the inner courtyard. Yet it's bright and airy even when visiting it in the hottest summer on record over 135 years in Italy, I thought it was reasonably cool with just a few fans - thanks to being in an hold building with very thick walls.

You enter the flat into a living room with a raised dining table off of which is a very small, but functional kitchen. The living room has a double sofa bed. Up a few steps is a storage/closet area and to the right a nice bathroom with tub and shower. To the left is the bedroom and a very cozy, romantic terrace. The apartment building dates back to the 1500's with wood beam ceilings stone tiled floors. The place is clearly loved by its owner and it shows in the decor and how well it's been maintained.

Ideal for couples, I really can't sing the praises of this place enough!

My wife and I really enjoyed the comfort and hominess feel of this place. It became our sanctuary from our hustle and bustle of touring, walking, and exploring. This is a great place to come home to; quiet, peaceful, secure. The location is perfect. You're in a neighborhood of locals instead of tourists. The local eateries were better than any we found in the tourist areas. We stayed in seven different places during our trip through Italy and this was our favorite. Courtney was very kind and helpful, and offered to make herself available with any questions during our stay.
I can't think of anything. We had everything we needed here.
I feel that C-P made our decision making easy and comfortable. The transaction was easy and simple. I think you made a great choice to include this location and owner in your portfolio of places to stay. Everything was just as stated on your site.

The apartment was a peaceful retreat from the city, with a lovely little terrace where we had breakfast every day, and an evening drink in the sun, which was a surprise! The main living area is a lovely big airy space. There was a comfy bed, plenty of pillows, towels etc; everything worked (though we didnt try the whirlpool bath). Its very handy for the Colosseum, there are roman ruins at the end of the street! Plenty of good restaurants nearby, and some minimarkets for basic provisions.
Information about local shops and restaurants would be helpful. There was a slight smell of drains at times in the bathroom, but not a big problem.
Booking dealt with efficiently, and it was good to know they were there if we had any problems.

I loved the location. It was ideal for exploring Rome. Carla, the owner, was so kind and welcoming.
I honestly can't think of anything.
Cross-Pollinate was wonderful. They answered our questions in a most timely way and arranged for airport transportation which was very convenient. Everything was just as described - actually exceeded our expectations.

This apartment was VERY charming and gave the feel of truly living in Rome. Décor and furnishing were lovely. The location was amazing, very close to the Forum and the Coliseum as well as many restaurants and shops. Subway is nearby as well. Quiet and peaceful, close to what you need but a nice getaway when you want to just relax. Carla, our host, was very helpful before and during our stay - she made us feel right at home!
I think the most helpful would be some written instructions with information about the neighborhood, where to find a grocery store, what to do with the trash, the key at departure, etc. Our host was completely reachable at any time, but having the information on site would save some back and forth. The TV service would go in and out, but we didn't watch much anyway. The stairs up to the dining area/platform might benefit from a railing of some kind, as they're a little steep and the wood floor has a bit of give when you walk there.
I found the Cross-Pollinate service very easy to use and the staff extremely responsive whenever we had questions. The photos and description accurately represent the unit and we had no problems connecting with our host to make arrangements for arrival.

Location! Right in the heart of everything. Hostess was delightful.
Wifi was a hotspot and not a hardline, so it was spotty to say the least. Lot's of mosquitos and no screens on windows, so we had to keep the windows closed at night...and place seemed a little musty. Seemed to be a lot of touristy food places (which were not very good...) would be helpful to have recommendations... yelp and trip advisor recommended horrible places...
Excellent.

Wifi is now a land line. We have loads of recommendations in our guide to Rome (and many in that area) at http://www.the-beehive.com/recguide.pdf also available as an app if you search for The Beehive Hostel.

Wow. This is such a cute apartment and we love the terrace and the neighborhood so much. It really feels like you're living in Rome, and not just a tourist. We were always happy to come back "home" and relax here, have coffee in the morning on the terrace. I can't imagine staying anywhere else in Rome.
Nothing!
