Casa Claudia
This little apartment has such an unusual and cool layout that I found myself wishing I lived here! First of all, it's not in an apartment building (which is quite unusual for Rome) but is accessed directly from the street on the ground floor through a frosted glass front door (which allows for some natural light to get in, but people on the street cannot see in at all). The apartment itself is an open-plan loft and while it's not huge, it's set up in a way that really makes it feel spacious. On the lower level you have a queen-sized bed and a fold-out sofabed. Pulling out the sofabed leaves little space for moving around on the lower level, so they prefer to only use it for children or groups of close friends who don't mind a tight squeeze. There are also two bathrooms on the ground level - one large one that's fully equipped, and right next to it another small one with just a toilet and a sink.
Then you walk up the comfortable stairs (it's not a narrow spiral staircase as lofts often have) and on the upper level you have 2 single beds, a kitchen, and a living/dining room area. The kitchen is really well-equipped - right down to two different kinds of orange juice squeezers - and the table for eating is located right outside the kitchen in the living/dining area. There are also two comfortable chairs right next to the window, perfect for reading and relaxing. There is actually quite a lot of natural light on the second level as there are several large windows - and you can see a bit of the Colosseum from one of them!
The apartment is well looked-after and totally renovated, and the owners (two sisters) are very detail-oriented and try to leave everything perfect for their guests (including instructions on how to use appliances and tourist info).
It's on a busy street, but the double-glazed windows keep out noise really nicely. If the windows are open it can be noisy (in the daytime, not at night) - but the apartment has A/C so it isn't really necessary to have the windows open. Because of the stairs, the apartment might not be suitable for small kids or anyone who has problems doing stairs.
Right in front of the apartment is a bus stop, and there are more bus stops around the corner, as well as the metro stop Colosseo nearby, so it's easy to get everywhere from there. You can also easily walk to the Colosseum in just a few minutes and to the Roman Forum, Piazza Venezia, and other main sights.
The layout might not work for everybody - for instance, people who require the privacy of separate rooms/sleeping areas - but it's perfect for a couple, a couple with kids, or a small group who doesn't mind sharing beds and the lack of privacy.

Russell and Stephen on Jun 2015:

Great location walking distance at most 3 km to any of the big sites. 1 block from Coloseum, great restaurants with in 4 block radius, Carrefour grocery within 1 block, bus stop with 3 bus lines outside front door, taxi stand 1/2 block away, bathroom was newly renovated, awesome WIFI, air conditioning both floors
Comfort of furniture, lots of cable tv channels but none in english (english ones required calling provider). Things that can't be improved: bus stop right outside front door, restaurant with outdoor seating to right of front door, heavily trafficed road, low ceilings on 2nd floor, some what dark, loud location if windows open
very easy, good communication, photos of apartment were obviously done by a professional.

Location is terrific; bit of a walk up into areas around the Pantheon, but certainly doable. House is small but very easily accommodates different activities such as sitting to eat, sleeping or finding a comfy chair for that rest after being out and about on foot for a few hours.
Bed is pretty good, but could be just a little kinder to an ageing back.
Had no problems making the booking and the arrangements. We were looked after well.

A few lines to say how comfortable and interesting was my stay in the past Christmas in Via Claudia at Rome. The apartment is very nice, plenty of light, spacious and very well organised. From Via Claudia I usually did my tours to the monumental Rome, Imperial Forums, Trastevere and more, always walking... Such so many interesting places to visit! The neighbourhood close to Via Claudia has the shops, supermarkets for the every day needs. But also close to the apartment there are several nice places to lunch or to have a glass of wine.
Everything was perfect!!: Thank you so much again Cristina for your help and advise!

This small appartement is very well located: just near the Colosseo and the Palatine, close to the old center, it is at the same time in a real roman area, with local restaurants and bars, animated but not by the tourists. We were very well welcomed by Ilaria, who was very helpfull and gave us good advises about stuffs to do during the day or during the night. She was also very flexible about the check out time. The flat proposes all what you need: hairdrier, towels and samples in the bathroom, orange juice, cofee, and all you need for a quick breakfast is proposed in the kitchnen, few maps and leaflets in the main room. Even if you arrive late , you don 't have to do worry about these things ! If you ll go back to Roma for a week end, we will rent it again and advise it to our friends !
As the flat is located on the ground floor on a road, it is a bit noisy, not so much because there s few trafic, especially during the night, but we would have appreciate a hifi or mp3 system to put some music on. There s another very minor thing but the kettle in the kitchen doesn't work so well.
Cross Pollinate was also very helpfull and of very good advises taking into account our wishes and being very flexible and comprehensive too, since we had to cancel our trip in a first time and to postpone it ! We thank them for their good job !

This is the place to stay in Rome. We were met by charming Cristina at the apartment. Her English is excellent and she had sent us emails prior to our arrival with perfect directions. The apartment appears new--spotless and well designed, The mattress was firm, the wifi was fast, the kitchen had everything we needed. The AC worked great. There were plenty of outlets. I want to stress how clean and fresh everything is in this apartment. The location is very convenient. Walk out your front door and look to the right-there stands the Coliseum. Go out left one block-- there is one of Rick Steve's favorite restaurants (we ate there twice). At the corner there is a taxi stand, an ATM. It is convenient to the metro. If we return to Rome this will be the place we will stay. The apartment is located on the street level and you should be aware there is a bus stop right out the front door. Via Claudia is a busy road with lots of traffic so it will be noisy late at night but, in my opinion, this is a small trade-off for the convenience and location.
We love CP. We have been traveling throughout Italy using only CP apartments.

Amazing location right by the Colleseum with a great cafe and lovely restaurant just metres away. A really lovely, spotlessly clean apartment which makes great use of space and easily accommodated me, my mother, sister and neice for a memorable three day trip to Rome. Lovely hosts who were particularly helpful and thoughtful. Street-level yet private, with quiet surrounds - a gem of a find!
Steve offered fantastic, arranged our [truly] last minute booking and arranged a airport pick-up taxi including child seat - cannot recommend highly enough.
