![]() | Pleasant neighborhood, a bit far from center. Accesible by transit. Enough space for two. Washing machine, enough hot water. Furnishings plain but adequate. |
![]() | The bedroom needs a blackout blind, too much light comes in through the shutters. Not a quiet place, there is a lot of traffic noise. |
![]() | Except for booking and arranging the taxi from the airport, which was helpful, we had little contact with Cross-Polinate or owner. |
![]() | By contrast to where I stayed first time around (near Castel Sant'Angelo) this location wins when it comes to transport options. Easy walk to Metro B station (Policlinico) or lazy tram ride. From there, two stops in either direction to either Roma Termini or Tiburtina to pick up Freccia express services. I opted for the latter for ease of transfer to/from the Metro plus it's less chaotic than Termini. Useful tram routes #3 and #19 cover many of the popular tourist sites and can be picked up at the intersection of Via Nomentana and Viale Regina Margherita. Local sights include the delightful Villa Torlonia, catacombs a quick bus ride up Via Nomentana (S.Agnese and try to have lunch in the sports club with the elderly locals), or just strike out along Via Nomentana towards Via Venti Settembre and ... well ... just stay on that track and you'll eventually end up in the vicinity of Trajan's Market. MACRO gallery is also very close (and a good coffee stop). One big treat is the Belle Époque architecture in the surrounding neighbourhoods and Quartiere Coppede - all within walking distance. If your tastes lean more towards austere lines of the Fascist era, you can visit the undercover "SPQR" market nearby. The apartment itself was clean, airy and secure. Furnishings are basic but all in good repair. My apartment faced out onto a side street from the bedroom window and an internal courtyard on the kitchen side. There are numerous supermarkets, restaurants and convenience stores to purchase stamps or travel passes (or torture yourself like I did and try buying your stamps from the Fascist era architectural gem PO near Bologna Metro!). Aside from the minor issues noted, I'd happily stay here again. |
![]() | I'd have liked a microwave and a toaster, since I was there for a long stay (mainly because the electric hot plates took a while to heat up). Would've preferred that the local pizza delivery guys didn't sit under bedroom window but it's Rome and there could be worse things/people out there! The buzzer at street level entrance to the building was not clearly marked. Didn't affect me on arrival because the lady was there at the door to let me in. But if I'd lost my keys and didn't have Internet or phone, no way of knowing which button to press from outside the building. |
![]() | No problems at all. Steve was very helpful with advice on selecting a place to stay. The booking process itself was no problem. Would use Cross-Pollinate again (especially if they start offering rentals in Bologna *hint hint*). |
![]() | The place itself was fabulous. Plenty of space, very comfortable. Washing machine! |
![]() | Nothing. it was perfect. |
![]() | When we left, we almost locked ourselves on the balcony because the Apartment door locks automatically, and the door to the balcony requires a key to open...this was probably mostly because it was 4 in the morning and our brains weren't turned on yet... |
![]() | Clean, light cheerful colors, privacy, able to come and go as needed. Location relative to metro stop was useful. The neighborhood seemed to be fine. We were not worried about our safety. The presence of an electric pot to let us heat up water for tea was great. |
![]() | A sign outside that told an arriving guest they were at the correct location would be good. |
![]() | When there was a problem with my first rental selection, Cross-Pollinate quickly found a second rental. |
![]() | The location: a bus stop right in front of the apartment so we could easily go anywhere in Rome; a neighborhood with a bakery, a fruit stand, an ATM, a tobacco store (for the Roma Pass, bus map, and bus tickets); and supermarkets nearby. The fruit stand had wonderful strawberries and peaches. Helpfulness of Monica, the building manager. The real comfort--not fancy, but very clean, much larger than a hotel room so we unpacked and made ourselves at home in Rome, the washing machine and drying rack, the cooking facilities with a good-sized refrigerator. The apartment was an absolutely terrific value. We hated to leave. |
![]() | Well, it's hard to say because we were so happy there. Maybe a set of bowls to go with the other dishes because we ate our oatmeal out of the large cups. . . |
