A really great idea - with a network of hand picked little rooms/guesthouses. If only we could have this in more city destinations! - Zoe Buck

Appartamento Colosseo
This one bedroom apartment belongs to Alessandra, a yoga instructor who is passionate about Eastern design and has created a wonderful home, both peaceful and eclectic, in the center of Rome just a stone's throw away from the Colisseum. When away, Alessandra puts her apartment up for short let to couples or small groups up to 5 people. Upon entering the apartment, which is on the 3rd floor of an 18th century palazzo (with elevator), there is a small office space, with a single bed in an overhead loft. Down the hallway to the right is the bathroom, illuminated by stained glass that faces into the small, yet fully equipped kitchen. At the end of the hall, passing under the original, exposed brickwork, is a double sized living room that is easily partitioned to create a private bedroom with double sized futon-style bed. There is also a double fold-out bed in the living room. In the neighborhood are various restaurants, cafe's and street markets, as well as the Colisseum and Roman Forum which are literally at the end of the street.

Location is terrific and the owner was nice and helpful.
The beds are all very uncomfortable and should be replaced. Also if you are renting out your apartment you should remove many of the breakable personal items that are cluttering the apartment.
Easy to use and helpful!

Perfect location! Alessandra is very welcoming. Her apartment is lovely! We had a fabulous time in Rome!!!
There is really nothing that needs improvement. My kids would've liked WIFI availability in entire apartment instead of one room :) We were in Rome during an unusual heat wave. Thankfully, the apartment had a portable AC unit however, it was not sufficient to cool the entire apartment. Outside of that, this is a SPECTACULAR apartment and location!!!!
This was my first time using Cross-Pollinate and I was very pleased! I will definitely be working with you again and recommending Cross-Pollinate to friends!

The location was amazing, Alessandra the host was a lovely lady who made us feel most welcome in her apartment. She even left a basket if food and a bottle of wine for us. The apartment was beautiful and full if interesting artifacts it felt alike a home not a holiday let. My 6 year old loved the loft bed this was a highlight for him. Alessandra was so helpful and even helped us during our stay when we needed to find an Internet cafe to print out some documents.
I was truly happy with the apartment it\'s location and facilities. The only thing I would say is, and it has nothing to do with the apartment mental facilities etc is that I was travelling with a two year old and the apartment was full of beautiful breakable things. I was always worries about breakages etc. thankfully he didn\'t break anything!!!
Excellent would definitely recommend and use again.

The apartment owner and her husband gave us a very warm welcome which was a great start to our stay in Rome. They provided us with some food/drinks in the apartment and recommended places to visit. We very much appreciated their kindness. The apartment has a lot of charm and interesting/artful items.
The beds were just OK. The pullout couch springs were very noisy so whenever anyone moved it was noticed. The master bed was also a bit creaky.
Very user friendly. I would recommend to others.

We stayed in this apartment in September 2014, two adults and three teenage boys and would stay again. Through the website we had pre-booked the taxi from the airport and despite being an hour late due to Customs, the taxi driver and the host waited, thankfully! The apartment was clean and conveniently located near all amenities and many sights (although the nearby park was closed). The pillows were wonderful! We were safe, conveniently located and the price was right, not a lot more to ask for really.
The s-bend under the kitchen sink leaked and the dishwasher was broken – previous tenants obviously did not report. The hand-held shower over the bath is a pain, and we agree the beds are hard but those were small annoyances. Warning: the otherwise excellent information booklet has a confusing translation regarding the bus terminus, not the train stazione termine. So if you’re intending to take the train to your next destination, do not take the bus to the train station because it doesn’t go there and you’ll have to get off and quickly find a taxi like we did.
Very convenient, easy to use. I appreciated not paying up-front as then I was not worried about turning up on the other side of the planet late at night to find we were without either accommodation or money. I liked the option of booking the taxi in advance also. Would use Cross-Pollinate again.

Everything! Alexandra had a food basket for us and said we could help ourselves to food in the frigerator. What a treat! We did go out the next day and buy food but for that first night and morning her food basket was really appreciated. We also watched a movie that she had and loved her choice of music CDs.
We had trouble with the bathtub shower spray. We just weren't very adapt at keeping the water inside the tub. Perhaps a shower curtain would help? Not sure
Great working with you. Enjoyed your blog. We will use you again.

Great situation & Alessandra had compiled a very helpful guide to the area, buses, supermarkets etc. Apartment spacious & liked the rather bohemian decor.
Shower Electric kettle Armchair as only a couch to sit on
Excellent - will recommend to family & friends

Funky eclectic furnishings. Feels like a friendly home, rather than a "rental." Awesome location, too. Very friendly and helpful host (friend of owner, who was out of town but arranged perfect replacement host).
Clearer directions for starting washing machine (which "program" makes sense?). [Totally minor quibble for wonderful place]
Email with Beehive/Cross-Pollinate ahead of visit was warm and useful.

This was a great place. Awesome location, tons of space, perfect for our visit. The owner left us all kinds of food and we were very happy. If I had known it would be this good I never would have moved on in Rome.
So far, so good.

Everything, great neighborhood, fun comfy apartment, nice owner.
A tad cluttered, which is its charm but a bit difficult for moving in a family's worth of travel things and curious kids!
Absolutely the best, helpful, responsive, great personal service.

Total "at home" feel. Loved the artsy eclectic atmosphere. We stayed in three apartments in Italy. This was my favorite. The site of the colosseum was breath taking every morning as we would head out on the convenient bus line. I also enjoyed the walk to the "wedding cake". Beautiful every step of the way with so much to see everywhere. Great local restaurants on the corners.
Loved it, as is.
For three "older" women it was easy and self explanatory. Questions were answered immediately. Made our trip to Italy an adventure.

We loved all the unique and interesting pieces of art and the original style of the Roman apartment. It was very spacious and it felt our home after a day or so. It was very central to everything in Roma - the Colosseum, Palatine Hill, the metro, busses, churches, restaurants and supermarkets. Alessandra was so welcoming when we got there, showing us the apartment and leaving us a generous food package. We loved the character of the apartment and its building and we felt very safe and secure there. after a busy day of sight-seeing the apartment was a lovely place to come home and relax in.
The shower was hard to use. Although it was an amazing bathroom the shower wasn't very practical, however we still managed to bathe.
The website has been very helpful and we have recommended Cross Pollinate to our friends and family.

Alessandra was a great hostess. She met us on time and was very kind to us. The apartment was great. Beautiful apartment, very clean and tidy, and in the PERFECT location. Right down the street from the Colloseum with easy access to the metro, but far enough off the beaten track that it wasn't too noisy. We were in a group of 4 people travelling together and we fit very comfortably into the apartment.
The bath/shower was a bit odd. Beautiful bathroom and excellent if you like baths, but as someone who prefers a nice long shower the hand held shower head became a bit cumbersome. Apart from that, everything was perfect!

Excellent convenient location, all logistics went well, pleasant owner!

The apartment is very cosy and the location just could not be better! Alessandra was very helpful and made us feel very welcome.
Thanks a lot to Cross-Pollinate for the opportunity to experience a city as an insider! We really enjoyed our stay in Rome and Venice and look forward to more.

Friendliness of the owner, location of the accommodation, security of the premises
anonymous on Jun 2012:

I loved the personal touch of the place and also the location - so close to restaurants and the Coloseum, as well as the metro.
The beds, however, were less than comfy! They could stand some new mattresses!

This was my favorite place I stayed on my whole trip to Italy. Alessandra is very nice, and her apartment is beautiful. It was fun to stay so close to the Colosseum.
The bed was not very comfortable, but that was the case pretty much everywhere I stayed in Italy.
Every place I rented from Cross-Pollinate was exactly as it had been represented if not better. I love this site.
