Sophie's Home
This is the home of Sophie, quite a jet setter, who rents her place when she is traveling or on vacation. Thus, it's a very lived in place with all the positives and negatives:

In my opinion, some of the good things are: you will hardly have to buy basic cooking ingredients; you'll have some interesting books (in a foreign language, perhaps); it's someone's home so you'll feel homey and won't find that it's bare of the essentials. And, the price is great!

Some people don't like to stay in someone else's personal space where there are pictures of other peoples' children on the wall and perhaps less room for your own things as in a vacation rental.

That being said, this home is situated at the very beginning of Paris' outskirts, just across the river Seine and with the metro stop only a few minutes walk. You can basically reach any part of Paris within 30 minutes. It feels nice getting out here after a long day of sightseeing, as things are calmer than within the city. The people are more relaxed and there are plenty of good, authentic places to eat.

There's a great park in less than 10 minutes by foot, and lots of supermarkets and restaurants close by. One supermarket is really only around the corner and is open until 10 pm, and Sophie recommends the restaurant right next door as one of 'Boulogne's' treasures.

The apartment itself is exposed to the view of a green garden. There are three rooms all lined up along the corridor: two bedrooms and the living room (with king size sofa bed). There's also one (smallish) bathroom (with bright turquoise tub and sink) and a nice bright and fully equipped kitchen with a counter for breakfast or snacks. The entire place has been repainted in early 2014.

Emily on Jun 2017:

Very close to subway and train, lots of neighborhood shops. Taxi queue in walking distance when we needed to catch an early morning train. Sophie was extremely responsive when kitchen sink clogged. The shower is amazing, great water pressure, lots of hot water and spacious. Beds were comfortable enough, kitchen held all basic necessities.
More trash bags would be nice. Remember one bed is in living area, so if one member of the party is up early, lounging areas are scarce.
I would definitely use again and have recommended the site to all!
Robert Lahoda on Jun 2017:

The apartment was clean and worked nicely for our family of 5. We had our three young kids sleep in one bed together which was a little tight but worked out ok. The location worked nicely, it was a little far from the middle of Paris, but not terribly. It just meant a little longer on the metro each evening coming back. The neighborhood was nice and there are supermarkets within a short distance of the apartment. The apartment was small, but that's expected in an urban apartment. Being from the USA, we weren't used to having a separate toilet and bathroom, especially since the toilet room didn't have a sink. Pretty normal for France, but something to get used to if you're not from Europe.
If there was a card explaining how to use the wash machine, that would be great. We tried to figure it out, but I'm still not sure we did it right. We needed to clean a lot at once right before we left so I went up to the laundromat up the street.
I liked that the site actually put me in contact with the owner quickly and that everything was communicated in a timely fashion. Other sites I tried didn't give much information or didn't get us confirmed so it was hard to know if we were going to get the apartment or not. This site allowed us to book the apartment quickly and without any issues so I had confidence that we were actually going to get the apartment and didn't have to worry about the booking once we reserved it.

Owner and neighbors were friendly and helpful. There was plenty of room for our family of five. It was quiet and comfortable.
Lots of excellent choices to choose from with a good variety in terms of location. Always got a timely response. I would use them again and I would recommend them.

Great location - only 7-10 minute walk to the subway station. Excellent value. The owner was accessible, responsive, and helpful. I would definitely recommend this place to my friends and family.
The mattresses are some what old, so they are a bit uncomfortable. New mattresses would be great.

Very homey apartment close to everything but not very touristy. Children loved it..
Cathy Schultz on Jun 2014:

Sophie! She was wonderful -- very helpful and accommodating. We arrived far, far later than we meant to on the first night, and she stayed there to meet us and was wonderfully gracious to us. Very good price for being so close to Paris with a nearby Metro stop. We had towels, blow dryer, wash machine, a drying rack---everything we needed.
We lost hot water for our last day and a half,, but it was the entire building, so--no one\'s fault. Both Sophie and Cross-Pol. were in email contact with us, and trying to resolve the situation for us.
Wonderful! Very quick to respond
Carolyn on Jun 2013:

Location is decent, beds were comfortable, apartment was adequate for our needs, communication from Sophie was outstanding and very much appreciated. Apartment is located about 1/4 mile from nearest metro station and 1/2 mile from another one, plus a central bus hub. Lots of restaurants in the area and a little grocery store right across the street.
The description of the apartment indicated that there are 2 king-size beds and 1 queen-size bed. Rather, there are 2 queen-size beds and 1 double bed. Needs more towels - There were 5 of us but we were only provided with 3 large towels. The other towels were quite small (only slightly larger than a hand towel). Needs more sheets - We were somewhat inconvenienced when the owner required us to have the sheets & towels ready for washing by 10 a.m. on the day we were leaving. As a family with three children, we don't move too quickly on a good day. Having to have the sheets & towels ready for washing by 10 a.m. was inconvenient for us. This could easily be alleviated by simply having more sheets & towels.
Excellent customer service! Very professional and personal. I will definitely use Cross-Pollinate again.
