Cross-Pollinate was very easy to use, and it is so much better to stay in places like these than big corporate hotels; you get a much better feel for the place. - Kaspar Deane

Cross Pollinate was just the best. I had tried a couple of places before coming upon them. As soon as I sent the first email I stopped looking for any more websites. I just wish they expanded to every city in Europe. Their knowledge, helpfulness, etc. was second to none. - Caroline Collis
Lisbon Dreams Guesthouse
Very fresh interiors in a city of light is how I would describe Lisbon Dreams Guest House. It might be the closest thing to our hotel in Rome, The Beehive, in their desire to combine luxury and affordability.

Spread over 1 ½ floors (1st floor and half of the 2nd floor) of a quiet residential building with high ceilings and large widows allowing lots of light to pour in, the guesthouse has 18 bedrooms that share 7 bathrooms. Breakfast is included and guests are allowed to use the full kitchen as well to prepare their own meals and use the dining room, patios and the two living rooms, one with TV.

The guest house also provides the following services: luggage storage, beverages and snacks on sale, tickets for the on-off bus tour, laundry service, iron & ironing board on request, making restaurant reservations, free wireless internet, etc - just ask the friendly receptionist!

The location near the Marques de Pombal square (the heart of the city) could not be more central and has good buses and metro links. The city’s main avenue (Avenida da Liberdade) is only 5 minutes walk away and from here you can easily reach the Rossio square and Baixa (or downtown Lisbon), although we suggest a pit stop on the way at the typical Portuguese Cervejaria & Marisqueira Ribadouro (beer and sea food bar) on the corner of Rua do Salitre and Avenida da Liberdade – an experience not to be missed!

Baixa is the main shopping and banking district that stretches from the Avenida de Liberdade to the Tagus River and its streets are named according to the shopkeepers and craftsmen who traded in the era of the discoveries (goldsmiths, leather workers, silversmiths, ect).  This part of Lisbon was completely rebuilt after the Great Earthquake of 1755 (by the Marques de Pombal) and its Europe's first great example of neoclassical design and urban planning, and one of the finest European architectural achievements of the age! Today, the Baixa remains an imposing district, with elegant squares, pedestrianized streets, cafes, old tramcars, tiled Art Deco shopfronts, elaborately decorated pastry shops, and street vendors selling everything from flowers to souvenirs, all lending a special charm to the area.  As you stroll down the pedestrian Rua Augusta, you will pass under a triumphal arch into the majestic Praça do Comercio and Lisbon’s riverfront.

The Lisbon Dream Guest house is also only a short walk away from the Principe Real district which has a pleasant square with a café and a shady garden with some exotic trees, including a hundred-year-old cedar that looks like a giant umbrella, all surrounded by colourful 19th century mansions. A bit further on is the Bairro Alto, famous for its bars and restaurants, trendy shops and unique boutiques and a lively night life.

Liz M on Sep 2016:

Super cute place with awesome breakfast. staff was very nice. Bed was very comfortable though I would have preferred a queen size to two singles pushed together.
If the doors to the rooms could be made to close more quietly it would be a plus.
Good

Price, comfort, friendly helpful staff, excellent breakfast and use of kitchen for snacks, patio, clean, good shower and location. Found interesting restaurants in the vicinity.
Very noisy and I was given a room on the quiet side of the guest house. Are there rooms that don't front the wo main streets?

Staff could not do enough for you here. Breakfast was awesome considering the tiny space the staff had to serve it. Laundry service was a life saver for us and very reasonably priced. Beds were very comfortable.
Air conditioning would be a huge plus here. Windows had to be kept open , very noisy traffic 24hrs and delivered trucks showing up in front of bldg every a.m About 6:50 a.m. - no sleeping after that
Somewhat excessive number of e-mails for a single booking. Given the presence of staff all day at this property there was no panic necessary over our arrival time.

Arrived late Sunday morning after long flight from US West Coast. Joana was very welcoming, informative, invited me to have some breakfast and leave my bags and I was started on a wonderful week in and around Lisbon!
Lighting on the keypad to get in the front door. When I was there a light lit up the outline of the keys, but not the numbers.
This was my third city to experience with Cross-Pollinate, and I would highly recommend them.
