Dimora Altea B & B
Dimora Altea is a charming B & B located near the Santa Maria Novella train station, just a short bus ride, or a long stroll, from the historic center of Florence. The B & B is still pretty new, having opened just a couple years ago after a complete renovation by the original owner; now the B & B is being run by her sons, Matteo and Alessio. They take good care of the B & B, keeping the six rooms in pristine shape. All the rooms are furnished in typical traditional Florentine style and equipped with private bathroom, TV, air-conditioning, mini-bar, and WiFi. The highlight of the B & B -- at least in good weather -- is the beautiful red brick rooftop terrace overlooking Florence and the nearby hills. There are tables for eating breakfast in good weather, and loungers for those who want to relax by sunbathing. Two of the rooms open directly onto the terrace, while guests in the other rooms can access it easily through the hallway.

Our room was comfortable and well set up. Directions to find the location were clear and thorough. We were within comfortable walking distance (approximately 10 minutes) from the train station. Although the Duomo and most of the tourist sites were on the other side of the train station, we were still able to walk to most locations in about 30 minutes. Our hosts also made a good recommendation for a restaurant close by as well as providing advice on tours in the area. Breakfast consisted of a tray with coffee, tea, and pastries that would have been perfect for the outside patio except for the rain.
Cross-Pollinate staff were quick to get back to me when I requested accommodation. The information they gave was clear and specific

The view from the balcony outside of the room was fantastic!
Some form of insect repellent or screens to prevent mosquitoes.
Easy site to use, accurate descriptions of the accommodation.

The room was spacious and charming. I also loved the rooftop balcony and the little balcony off my room where I had coffee in the morning.
The location is not optimal. It was a long walk with luggage from the train and hard for newcomers to Florence to find. I also wished the staff had been on site.
Excellent. I'd do it again.
