La Casa di Kaia
Named after the owner's five year's old franco-norvegese godchild Kaia, La Casa di Kaia is situated on the fourth floor of a newly renovated 19th century building in the historic neighborhood of Trastevere. A charming and vibrant medieval quarter in the historic center of Rome, Trastevere is famous for its calm quaintness during the day and being a lively hotspot at night, with one of Rome's most acclaimed selection of restaurants, cafes, and bars.

From La Casa di Kaia, guests can enjoy Rome completely on foot. A short walk across the Tiber Island and the Ponte Fabricio (the oldest Roman bridge still in use, dated 62 BC) takes you to the nearby ancient Ghetto area, the Marcello Theater, and the Michelangelo Capitol’s Piazza, as well as the more famous Campo dei Fiori, Piazza Navona, and the Pantheon.

Within walking distance of La Casa di Kaia there is also a daily fruit and vegetable market, a supermarket, an international newsstand, etc. In the apartment there are 3 newly furnished bedrooms (1 single and 2 doubles) and 1 shared bathroom and kitchen. Sunny rooms give this modern accomodation a homey atmosphere. The Casa di Kaia is decorated with paintings by three Italian contempory artists: Emanuela Lena, Roberta Mariani & Pietro Calabrese.

The owner, Sylvie, a friendly young French woman who also speaks fluent English and Italian, has had many years of experience in tourism and knows how to make her guests feel welcome and at home. She lives the floor below. She's always ready to answer questions and is happy to suggest the best things to see and do in Rome to help her guests enjoy their stay to the fullest. She offers all guests a free map of Rome and free guide to the area; additionally, photos, and postcards of her own black-and-white photography of Rome are available for purchase.

Shiatsu treatment and Chinese massage are available upon request. Particular attention is paid to recycling.

Beautiful flat that is kept immaculate. Sylvie cleans every day and is just one floor below, always willing to help. Every detail is considered, including providing a map and list of recommended places with descriptions. I loved that Sylvie took time to I've us an orientation to Rome by drawing on the map and asking us about what we want to do, then suggesting the best way to go about it in the short time we were there. The house is a reasonable walk to ancient ruins and and good walk (maybe a pleasant 30 min) to the Vatican. Lots of good restaurants in the neighborhood and places to socialize. Another note about Sylvie: she kindly informed us in advance about a bus strike happening the day of our departure so we could plan for a taxi. Stay here! You will love it!
This is no fault of anyone, but it is worth mentioning to future guests that there are restaurants down below and the street can be quite noisy if you are trying to sleep. Not traffic, but people socializing. I'm a heavy sleeper and I was occasionally roused just enough to notice but it's not like I couldn't sleep from it. I would worry that some very light sleepers that need absolute silence would have issues. BUT this has been the case in the vast majority of places I've stayed in Europe and is not unique to this place. Also be prepared to carry your luggage to the 4th floor, which by American standards is actually the 5th floor. It was well worth it, though!
Wonderful service! Super helpful in arranging my stay and they took special care to organize my midnight arrival with the host. Cheers!
