Unbelievably friendly and warm staff who gladly gave expert travel advice and recommendations that only a Roman would normally be privy to. - Loic Diels
I LOVE this website and will gladly recommend it to anyone headed this way. Nothing disappointed us! - Mary-Iris Taylor
I have been using Cross-Pollinate for about 10 years now. The service is consistently great and I can always find just the kind of apartment we like, at the right price. - Hirani Himona
A really great idea - with a network of hand picked little rooms/guesthouses. If only we could have this in more city destinations! - Zoe Buck
I love Cross-Pollinate and every time we go to a new city I look to see whether they have some accommodations over there. - Arantza Aldea
The two places I have stayed at from Cross-Pollinate have been among the best across Europe. Highly recommended. - Nicholas Burn
Thanks a lot to Cross-Pollinate for the opportunity to experience a city as an insider! We really enjoyed our stay in Rome and Venice and look forward to more. - Tatiana Marchenko
Cross-Pollinate was very helpful when the owner of the B&B wanted to charge us for the baby under 2 y o. It would have been difficult without them since the owners did not speak any english. - Yulia Pichugina
This was our only stay with a C-P apartment and we were very pleased with the entire process. Will look to use them again on our next Europe trip! - Anthony Giglio
Great web site and quick response from the team a CP made the whole experience easy and hassle free. I have already recommended CP to quite of few of my airline industry colleagues and I'm sure they will make use of their excellent service. - Shane Pickles
Cross-Pollinate was extremely helpful! They found us a place to stay in our price range when many other places of business couldn't help us. - Sarah Seminutin
Cross-Pollinate was very easy to use, and it is so much better to stay in places like these than big corporate hotels; you get a much better feel for the place. - Kaspar Deane
Very straight forward. Well done. Definitely would use it again. Love these type of alternatives to hotels! - John White
Cross-Pollinate was fantastic and easy to use. We used Cross-Pollinate to book a room in Florence (the second leg of our trip), which was everything I thought it would be. We have recommended Cross-Pollinate to our friends. - Barbara Carlin
Cross-Pollinate are great - the descriptions are accurate and they are very responsive to questions. - Dominique Bayne
Cross Pollinate was just the best. I had tried a couple of places before coming upon them. As soon as I sent the first email I stopped looking for any more websites. I just wish they expanded to every city in Europe. Their knowledge, helpfulness, etc. was second to none. - Caroline Collis
Casa Gigli Verde double room
Casa Gigli is a two-room guesthouse located on the first floor (with elevator) of a very elegant residential building just near Castel Sant'Angelo and across the bridge from Piazza del Popolo. The building has cultural importance as it was used as a film set for two important films by Totó, Alberto Sordi and Aldo Fabrizi (beloved Italian actors of the 1960s). The guesthouse has just been completely renovated, from top to bottom, and opened in May 2012. The double room has a private bathroom with modern fixtures located just outside the room. The rooms are equipped with double-glazed windows so it stays very quiet inside, air-conditioning, WiFi, and independent heating. There is a small kitchenette (mini-fridge, sink, stovetop, basic cookware and dishes/utensils) that guests are welcome to use to cook meals. Breakfast is NOT provided. The location is great for those who wish to be able to walk around historic center without necessarily having to take a bus or the metro. Crossing the river, you're at Piazza del Popolo (in about 10 minutes) and from there you can walk to Villa Borghese, Piazza di Spagna, the Trevi Fontain, etc. Whereas on the same side of river as the guesthouse is Castel Sant'Angelo (also about 10 minutes walking); from Castel Sant'Angelo you can cross the river as well into historic center and be almost right at Piazza Navona, or you can walk up via della Conciliazione and be at St. Peter's and close to the Vatican Museums. You also have plenty of bus stops in the area to get around (especially at nearby Piazza Cavour, 5 minutes walking, which is a main hub for several buses). The closest metro stop is Lepanto (line A), about 10 minutes by foot. For those coming from or going to Fiumicino airport, there is a shuttle bus (Sitbusshuttle) that drops off / picks up directly at Piazza Cavour and is quite a bit cheaper than taking the train to Termini station. The neighborhood, Prati, is residential (although being so close to so many tourist sights), so you'll find plenty of good restaurants, coffee bars, gelaterie, supermarkets, and pretty much everything else you could need.

Melanie on Mar 2015:

There's a special feeling, a je-ne-sais-quoi to the Green Room at Casa Gigli, where we stayed for five nights: the works of art and reproductions, the polished-to-a-gleam vintage furniture, the huge bed, the vaulted ceiling... We found ourselves in the vicinity of Rome's Palazzo di Giustizia (think half Kafka, half Fernando Pessoa), with Casa Gigli occupying a good third of the piano nobile of a grand bourgeois building, just at the river edge of Prati - meaning it's both central AND quiet (even more so since both rooms face the courtyard, not the street). Supermarkets, bakeries, shops, cafés and many of the main sights are just down the road, as is public transport. Checking in was a matter of minutes, the directions from Fiumicino airport to Casa Gigli (the SIT bus shuttle practically runs door to door!) also easy as pie. If you're looking for a place with loads of character, this is it!
A toaster in the kitchenette would be nice - but hey, that's complaining on a high level. ;-)
Super helpful in their suggestions, transparent in their proceedings and communications.

Location, security, cleanliness, spaciousness, staffing!
Fabulous experience. I have great confidence in this service and will recommend to others.
Rick in SF on Sep 2014:

Great location, especially for those that plan to visit Vatican, Castello San'Angelo and Borghese Galleria/Gardens. Transportation close by at Lapanto and Piazza Cavour.
I've used a number of times and they are great. I tell everybody about their service. Their emails a few days before your stay could be toned down a bit (IMPORTANT INFO - If you are delayed, they will not wait indefinitely!) but nice to see they monitor your reservation.

Great place to stay. Quiet room with well equipped kitchenette. Would highly recommend. Flavia was super helpful for places to eat and local amenities.
We had everything we needed.
Steve was super helpful finding us a place at the last minute within our budget. All communication was clear and what we ended up with was perfect.
Barb and Dave on May 2014:

Location was good for us, it was very quiet and clean. The manager is very friendly and helpful. The bathroom was nicely updated but the shower really small. Overall it was very comfortable.
During the nights it got very warm and due to Mosquitos the window needed to be shut. The small air conditioner was okay for only a short time.
The service is very handy and I would use them again.
Cheryl from Portland, Oregon, USA on May 2014:

The spacious room & bath, the hot shower, that there was only one other guest room, and located in a very quiet and lovely neighborhood. I enjoyed being in a more residential area and walk or ride the Metro to the sites.
The cleanliness of kitchen items (most have mineral stains) and provide a cleaning scrub sponge or brush. It would also be helpful to have a tea kettle for warming water since I had to use a pot. I also did not receive a terry robe as shown in the photos and the bath towel was not replaced. The robe would have been helpful since the bath was separate from the room. Also, since the area is more residential, it would have been helpful to have a short list of supermarkets and good restaurants/cafes close by. When I was searching during my first night in the rain and dark, it was challenging.
Excellent! The entire process and experience was top rate. They provided helpful insights, a smooth process and solid support.

Great Location, walking distance to Vatican plus other attractions. Nice neighbourhood. Clean and spacious. Great staff. Would go back.
The place is great!
Cross-Polinate was very helpful in organizing accommodations for our two weeks in Italy and in all three cities we visited. The reservation process was very good and the staff was very helpful even with questions beyond accommodations. We had no issues on arrival, all went as planned by them. Thanks for your help.
Cory Osborn on Jun 2013:

Helpful and gracious host. Well-sized room, nice bathroom quarters. Great location only a 5-10 minutes walk from the Tiber and Piazza del Popolo. Easy to find, and easy to get to from the airport via Bus to Piazza Cavour.
Furniture could use an update. Felt a bit old/tacky. Kitchen quarters is a bit small, but still functional. Kind of awkward having common space with a bedroom right down the hall, but no problems arose from that.
Cross-Polinate was unbelievably helpful. We originally tried to book a room at the Beehive hostel. Instead of simply informing us that they were booked and leaving it at that, they sent us a list of all of their other properties and were incredibly gracious and helpful towards locating lodging for us.
Kathy on Jul 2013:

The location was excellent a ten minute walk from the train station but away from the touristy part of town.
Someone that would be more helpful when we had questions or needed guidance.
I have been recommending your site to everyone I know and talked to when we were in Italy. Everywhere we stayed was a convenient location and a great price.
Conrey on Jun 2013:

Wonderful location, beautiful old building with comfortable, updated rooms. There was AC, a big bathroom, amenities such as hair dryers, towels, etc. I loved staying here and I would highly recommend Casa Gigli.
This was a wonderful resource and made my travel experience really pain free. The staff were super helpful and knowledgeable. Thank you very much for great a recommendation and for booking the hotels, etc.

The location was great for walking around Rome.
We were instructed to close the window at noon. The next morning when we tried to open the window, it almost fell out. Fix the window.
Cross-Pollinate was very helpful in getting answers to my questions - especially about an increase in the amount that was quoted to me. The available of a taxi waiting at the airport for me was one less hassle.
Admin on 05. Jun 2013:
I believe the instructions were to keep the windows closed after sunset to keep mosquitos out. As for the window, it's has two "settings" to being open - one is like a traditional French window, opening from the center outward, and the other way is for the top to open so it's like a V, just letting in air from the top. If you don't shut it properly before opening it another way, it appears to just be hanging there on the bottom. But it's not broken.

Clean, located in a safe neighborhood near public transportation. Best bathroom of the entire trip - spacious shower, excellent water pressure and clean! The beds were comfortable and the air conditioning worked. Flavia was wonderful! Access to a small kitchen was handy. Linens and towels were great!
There is a small mini oven on the counter of the kitchen that is coated in grease - we didn't even attempt to use it. Everything else in the kitchen was fine.
Thank you so much! The apartments in Venice and in Rome were the best accommodations of our 2 - weeks in Italy. You were very responsive to our questions and the check in process went smoothly. We will be using your services again on our next trip to Europe! Thank you!

Centrally situated and clean and well appointed
Great service and communication. Will recommend you in future
anonymous on Sep 2012:

The location was very good if you like being away from the main tourist drags and don't mind a short walk to city centre.
The sheets had maybe 10 hairs approx in them. Which I managed to remove before my wife saw them!!
Very good and will continue to use them!

This is in a safe and convenient neighborhood. We took lovely long walks by the Tiber. The apartment is clean and comfortable, and the building is really cool.
Bed could be more comfortable.
Every place I rented from Cross-Pollinate was exactly as it had been represented if not better. I love this site.
