Irmgard's Guestrooms are spacious and bright double bedrooms with a reading corner, TV, and a small desk.
One of the guestrooms has a king-sized bed, and the other has a queen-sized sofabed and a single bed (so it can be used as a triple room). Unfortunately the owner cannot guarantee in advance which guests will get the room with king-sized bed, sorry!
A mother of six and grandmother of nine, the owner has been living in this tastefully furnished apartment for three decades, but with the kids all grown she now spends part of her time in a small village outside of Rome.
She usually rents two rooms to guests. (There is only one shared bathroom --cleaned daily of course!), but upon request she will rent out the whole apartment (up to 4 people+ one small child) .
The apartment is located in an elegant apartment building in a nice residential and very central area. Great for walking to some of the major attractions (in about 10 minutes you can reach the Colosseum or Santa Maria Maggiore basilica by foot.) It's also fairly close to the Termini train station (about 10 minutes walking, very convenient for getting around). One of Rome's most charming smaller parks, Colle Oppio, with a great little outside cafè, is just around the corner.
This truly feels like a guestroom in the very sense of the word, you will be considered a guest in a real home, rather than a paying tourist in an accommodation structure. Irmgard is happy to provide breakfast (upon request) and share her knowledge of Rome (which is plentiful). If you have ever wanted to read one of the most important Italian classics, The Divine Comedy, this might be just the time as she has it on a poster printed out in extremely tiny letters next to the dining table... which makes this impressive volume of 160 verses quite accessible.
