The first is from the beautifully gardened terrace, from where guests have a direct view of the dome of St Peter’s Basilica. The second is from a much smaller balcony at the rear of the large, bright kitchen, but one that still offers spectacular views of the rooftops of Rome.

The rest of the modern apartment is just as spacious as the colourful terrace. The open living room (with a TV, two soft, single chairs and one cosy double sofa) leads into the long dining room, and this space is framed on both sides by tall windows that let in light throughout the day. The bright, high-ceilinged master bedroom, highlighted in teal hues, can be set up to provide a large double bed for couples, or two singles for friends and family. But even more welcoming than this clean and modern apartment is Vicky and her brother, who are always smiling and are more than happy to welcome you to Rome, or leave you to your own devices.

The walls of The Vatican City are just a ten-minute walk away from this cheery apartment. But for those who want to cross the beautiful St. Angelo Bridge across the Tiber River and head into the centre of Rome, this can be done on foot in less than twenty-minutes, or by bus from one of the many bus stops that surround the local neighbourhood. The closest metro stop is a ten-minute walk away (Ottaviano), and has direct links to the Spanish Steps, the Trevi Fountain, and Rome’s main train station (Termini).
