Appartamento Gregorio VII
Located just a twenty-minute walk from the walls of the Vatican City, Appartamento Gregorio VII sits in a residential area of Rome frequented by few tourists. The quiet one-bedroom, first-floor apartment is furnished with green plants and cosy fabric throws, offering the perfect escape for couples, or families who can also make use of the two-person sofa-bed in the comfortable living room.

With large glass patio doors that lead out to a private tiled space lined with potted plants, the living room is a sun-trap during the day. With another access to the exotic patio from the fully stocked and newly renovated kitchen, guests can share a meal inside at the lace-lined dinner table, or enjoy a late brunch or a bottle of wine outside.

Decorated in soft hues, the double bedroom has voile curtains as well as shutters, to keep out any noise from the streets outside. There’s also ample storage space in the form of a large chest of drawers and a small hanger beside the bedside table. The bathroom is situated just outside the master bedrooms, and offers a newly renovated shower space.

The closest metro station is Baldo degli Ubaldi, a fifteen-minute walk from the apartment. With the red line running through it, guests are just a few stops from the Spanish Steps, the Vatican City and Rome’s main train station: ‘Termini’. However the area of Gregorio VII also offers countless bus links into the centre of Rome. If you truly want to experience local life in Rome, then this residential area offers some of the best examples. Just pop into Il Pappagallo Bar (a two-minute walk from Appartamento Gregorio VII) for an espresso and cornetti and watch the locals go about their day.

This lovely apartment has any and everything you need for any length of stay. I have stayed here twice. Both times we utilized all of the sleeping space so that we had separate sleep/dressing areas. The futon in the living room is comfortable. The bedroom feels secluded, my traveling companion was not bothered by any noise. The apartment is air-conditioned which is a must for traveling in July in Rome! There is a roll down window covering which keeps the sun out during the day so it keeps the apartment from overheating. The kitchen, while small, has everything you need. The location of this apartment is good, there is a grocery very close as well as other shops. There is an italian coffee pot in the kitchen, if you're not sure how to use it and if, like me you want a cup of coffee before venturing out, look it up ahead of time to avoid frustration. There is a 24-hour bar/restaurant just a short block away that serves a wonderful, reasonably priced buffet at happy hour and its just overflowing with many different foods. A few more steps down the street is a good gelateria, open until midnight. For sightseeing, you can catch a bus on the next street over if you're comfortable with the bus routes, and although we didn't use the metro, I do know that its less than a mile from the apartment. We used uber to get home a couple of evenings and we used a taxi as well. Check out was simple and secure upon leaving. The landlady, Rosa, is a gem. We had a flight delay of 24 hours in arriving, and she was just an email away for communication. She was very flexible with our arrival and departure, and notified the lady who was meeting us at the apartment (Rosa was taking a well deserved vacation!) . I am hoping to meet her in person some time in the future! We were very grateful for her accommodation.
There is only ONE thing I would improve and that is I'd like to be able to find English speaking TV on the television! Its quite possible its there and I just couldn't find it.
Cross-Pollinate has never disappointed me, I've used them for over 10 years to book stays. They have the best customer service, and I can always count on their rentals being exactly how they're stated. Hopefully they will be world wide one of these days!

We loved the little flat and the way it was so cleverly planned. The kitchen was tiny but it had everything one needed. - it was all great. I found the owners extraordinarily helpful and likable - which helps when in a huge city! We had a lot of contact with them and Rosa got us tickets for the Sistine - which was beyond the call of duty! it was great.
The only small thing was that the mattress was a bit hard but we got used to it. I had a problem with the very noisy streets nearby - not much anyone can do about that! Cant find anything else to complain about!
Very helpful all the way through. Do you do apartments in France as well as Italy?

Charming apartment beautifully presented, great welcome from owners. Supermarkets nearby, and other shopping. Fairly near a metro station and many local buses into the City.
Not many local restaurants, we preferred to eat in the centre of Rome.
Booked taxi wasn't available to collect us at the airport.
Derek on May 2013:

Awesome hosts, very helpful. Beautiful large private patio. Lots of grocery stores nearby. Surprisingly quiet apartment, given the busy street it's on. Kitchen very small but quite functional. We stayed a full month and enjoyed it.
It's a bit out of the way and not well located for short stays. A 15 min walk to either the Baldo delgi Ubaldi or Valle Aurelia metro stations. Few restaurants in the neighbourhood. Living room furnishings a bit spartan.
Vary accommodating and helpful.
Gudrun on Apr 2013:

appartement was comfortable, clean and we found everything we needed.
We missed internet! No problem to get with a bus into the city or to the Vatican - but it was a bit complicated, to find the next metro-station (and the connection with bus)
very helpful and quick answers. Thank You!
SUKHOREBRA on Apr 2012:

I liked almost everething but the most of that - Sandro's hospitality and his kind attention during our whole stay. Till now we have very good memory about the nice terrace with young ginkgo trees and many flowers there.
It would be much more convenient if there would be Wi-Fi in the apartments
We got rather pleasant experience using Cross-Pollinate and were fully satisfied by the staff: prompt responses with detailed information and explanations, if reguired.
Kemby on May 2011:

Loved the private patio, comfortable nice apartment in secured building
I liked the area - it is quiet and residential so you feel like a true Roman, but if you need to be close to the center of town, this apartment is probably not for you. You need to bus into town, but can walk to vatican city.
