This apartment is so much more than just a 'vacation home'; it's a place where someone has left a piece of their heart, soul... and a lot of work.
Gianluca, the owner, moved into this apartment about 8 years ago (before, it had been his grandfather's), and he tore down virtually everything and started rebuilding the inside from scratch. New, real (not fake) parquet. A total makeover for the bathroom. Custom-made furniture from various crafty friends. Lots and lots of attention to detail and style. You kind of feel like you just want to tiptoe around, that's how perfect it is. But luckily, you are perfectly free to throw yourself on the sofa and just enjoy the space around you.
There's an open space loft-style entrance/living room with a double sofabed and a kitchenette (small but very well stocked and top-notch appliances), a bedroom, and a full bathroom (with large tub).
Located in an ex 'blue collar' apartment building (very rare in this area) just a short walk from the Vatican (it'll take you less than 10 minutes to get to St Peter's basilica), it's well-connected with public transportation (buses, the San Pietro train station, the metro is also fairly close).
Gianluca is well-known in the neighborhood and leaves you a list of places (restaurants etc) to visit, where you'll be treated well and often offered a discount
Gianluca will also leave you a 'welcome pack' with instructions, and two vouchers: one for a welcome drink (aperitivo) and a second one for your first breakfast, in two different places he chose to recommend closeby..
