Termini B & B
Termini B&B is a funky, friendly little Bed & Breakfast not even a block up from Termini station. The whole place has been decorated with retro flair to recreate the "optimistic and comfy ambience" of 1950s Rome. The front entrance and main room are painted a bright aqua-blue and decorated with memorabilia from the '50s; there is a communal refrigerator and small kitchenette which guests are welcome to use. The owner also gives guests a breakfast voucher to be used at a nearby coffee bar. Each of the 3 guestrooms has its own personality -- there's the "mirror room" (with small mirror squares on the ceiling to form a design), the "spiral room" (bright orange spirals on the walls for a kaleidoscope effect) and the "newspaper room" (original wallpaper made from newspaper clippings, cartoons, and magazine pictures). The rooms are small and simple, with no real luxuries, but the ambience of the place and the clean and economical accommodations keep guests happy and coming back, as evidenced by the hallway wall entirely covered with thank-you notes, postcards, letters, and gifts sent from former guests. The friendly owner, Bengi, and his assistant, Marco, who speak fluent English, Italian, Spanish, and Hebrew, pride themselves on knowing where to go for the authentic, cheap, and cool side of Rome. Bengi, a professional magician, even performs weekly magic shows in the B&B.
