CLOSED - Tre Gigli B & B
Tre Gigli is a homey and personal B&B with 3 guest rooms and 1 shared bathroom. There's also a kitchen available for guest's use with a toaster, microwave, oven and stove. Breakfast items are left in the room (simple packaged pastries, etc.) so guests can have breakfast when they want. In the fridge, there's space for guest's food, as well as other breakfast items stocked for each room on arrival.

The rooms themselves are colorful, clean and spacious, with parquet floors, TV and air-conditioning. A USB WIFI modem can be loaned out on request as well.

Only a 5 minute walk from the main train station, Santa Maria Novella, it's ideal for someone who just wants to park their bags and set out to see Florence. From here, you can walk to the Duomo and Piazza della Signoria in about 10 minutes. The neighborhood, which has an interesting past as the home of the Vespucci family, is now a mix of traditional bakeries, ethnic kebab places, and a notable vegetarian restaurant - BVeg. Past this point, traffic is mostly blocked, so if you're arriving by car, this is a good area to be in. The owner has negotiated discounts with a nearby garage, or can help you find free nearby parking; she can also organize transportation to and from the airport.

The owner, Fernanda, is an animal lover and isn't shy about expressing the need for animal rights throughout her B&B. Although she certainly won't give you a hard time if you're a meat eater, and is happy to make good suggestions for both meat eaters and non. She prides herself on spending a good deal of time at check-in to really give guests a good orientation of the city and answer any questions.

Sue and Kimberly on Aug 2014:

If I could give ten stars to the helpfulness of the owner, I would. She sat down with us and drew lines with green pen on the map she provided. We knew exactly where to go, what to see and where to eat. WiFi worked great. AC worked great. Location fantastic! Breakfast was across the street using tickets provided by Fernanda. Caffe and pastries-yum! The pictures are accurate. I was in the Luna room while my friend was in the big room with bed, couch and table.
My sense of direction in Firenze.

Fernanda was incredibly helpful, giving great advice on what to see and do in Florence. I loved the location and the apartment. Clean, homey, even the ther guests were great. There was even a problem with the electricity, and Fernanda was there in minutes to resolve. Highly, highly recommend.
Maybe have a power adapter for Americans?
Easy to use, and loved the recommendation.

Location, location, location. This was a very easy walk from the train station and to all the tourist sites (Duomo, Academia, Uffizi, etc). It was beautiful and clean and felt like out home away from home. Fernanda was extraordinarily helpful, she drew the best walking routes on a map for us and had a ton of information on all the sites and museums. The cafe she sent us to for breakfast was great, the staff was friendly and patient with our lack of Italian language skills.
We wished we had a little more space to unpack our bags and for our own belongings in the bedroom closet.
Cross-pollinate helped me find two B&Bs (Florence and Rome) and I will recommend it to any of my friends traveling abroad.
dung bishop on Sep 2013:
the owner is supper nice and helpful , small kichen but enough to cook your meal and coffee, tea, milk and fruits , ton of snacks are there free of charge, each room have AC and windows, watch for mosquitoes if you open windows, small balcony for smoker, bathroom is fulled of shampoo and body bath, no conditioner ( have not seen any of this in any of my hotels), location is very close to the train five minutes, the sign of the hotel is very small , the door of the B&B is b/w the two restaurants, the biggest room of the three facing to the neighborhood road there for is very noisy at night, people drink and talk very loud until 2-3 am, bring your earplugs and close all windows (she change the room for us and it was perfect)
Admin on 25. Sep 2013:
Just a few comments to help other travelers: 1. The sign is the size allowed by the city of Florence for a B&B her size in the historic center. She's not allowed to put anything larger based on the type of license she has. 2. The room initially given to the guest is larger, to accommodate those traveling with more luggage, but faces the street. There are double paned windows and it is not particularly loud by Florence standards. Given that the guest preferred quieter, the owner moved her toward the inner courtyard. However, the noise she experienced is not typical.
Kuo on Apr 2013:

The cozy room, the warmness of the hostess Fernanda(although she dose not speak english much, she helped us booked a fine restaurant, and gave us discounts at parking.)
Really needed someone to be there when we arrived. We did not know where to park, or was it safe to park on the road side (it was definitely a NO). The key left at the restaurant downstairs was not that promising. (It was taken by other guests, and the hostess could only show up at 7pm. ) A better strategy might be needed.
Great. Reliable.
