GAUDI INNBB is a small, home-style place with 3 modest guestrooms, each with private bathroom (1 ensuite and 2 non-ensuite). The friendly Italian owner, Raffaela, speaks fluent English, Spanish, Italian, French, and German, and has lived in Barcelona for many years (and works as a tour guide) so she's very familiar with the city and can give you great instructions on how to get around, where to eat, and what sights not to miss. She's made a conscious effort to give her B & B a casual, sociable ambience, as she wants guests to feel as comfortable as though they were in their own home. Guests are welcome to use the kitchen to cook, and Raffaela provides breakfast items which she leaves in the kitchen (restocking them as necessary) for guests to help themselves whenever they get up in the morning. The kitchen also makes a good common area, and many guests end up chatting and getting to know each other over breakfast or while cooking other meals. The three guestrooms all have parquet floors, balcony access, and ceiling fans to keep them cool in the summer, and each is decorated in a different color theme (pink, green, and blue). They have all been sound-proofed so they stay quiet. The rooms can be rented either as singles or doubles with a choice of queen bed or 2 single beds. (Please note that the double room with 2 single beds is quite small! If this may be a problem for you, we would advise booking the room with queen bed instead.) The B & B is situated on the 3rd floor of a typical 1923 building of the Gaudí period, which was later restructured to have a modern elevator. The B & B was recently photographed by Vogue New York for a book on Spanish B & Bs which will come out in 2011. Located a short walk from Gaudí's Sagrada Familia, the area is perfect for guests who wish to be centrally and conveniently located, yet outside the most touristy areas in a more quiet and peaceful residential neighborhood. The B & B is near a few different metro stops on different lines (the closest are the Sagrada Familia, Hospital de Sant Pau, and Encants stops) so it's very easy to get around the rest of the city. The neighborhood has plenty of good, affordable local restaurants, shops, and supermarkets.
