Cross Pollinate was just the best. I had tried a couple of places before coming upon them. As soon as I sent the first email I stopped looking for any more websites. I just wish they expanded to every city in Europe. Their knowledge, helpfulness, etc. was second to none. - Caroline Collis
Anita's Bed & Breakfast
Although Anita's Bed & Breakfast is a little farther out of the historic center than the others on our site, it's one of my favorites and in my opinion the view alone is worth the extra bus ride. It's located on Mount Tibidabo, Barcelona's highest mountain, in the neighborhood of Sant Gervasi, which is a quiet, residential area. Being so high up, and with the rooms facing the city, guests get an amazing view of all of Barcelona, stretching all the way out to the water. It's a perfect location for those who prefer to be away from the chaos of the center of Barcelona, and would rather get a sense of what life is like in a normal residential neighborhood rather than a touristy area. Despite being located a bit far out, it's still easy to reach from the city center -- there is a metro stop, Penitents, right in the neighborhood (Line 3) and from the metro stop you can either take a bus for about 10 minutes or walk (but I wouldn't advise walking when you first arrive, as it's a very steep hill to do with luggage!) It's also close to Park Güell, one of Barcelona's major tourist sights, designed by Gaudí (and has his famous salamander statue). For those who also want to enjoy some more active pursuits, Anita's is very close to the Natural Park of Collserola where there are many hiking and biking trails. The B&B, which is located on the 1st and 2nd floors of a very small apartment building, has 3 lovely rooms, each with private ensuite bathroom. Two of the rooms are located on the upper level of the B&B and these rooms have balcony access so guests can sit at a table outside and enjoy the view. The third room, which does not have a balcony, is located on the lower floor where the common room of the B&B is. The owners -- Anita and her daughter Ariadna -- are very proud of the friendly, family-like atmosphere of the B&B as a result of what they call the "social room" where guests can sit on the comfortable sofa and relax, talk, read, watch TV or DVDs, use the computer, or play board games. The social room also has a large table where guests have breakfast together -- and breakfast at Anita's is one of its strengths, as they enjoy serving a complete breakfast with a wide choice of options, even cooking up something on the spot sometimes depending on guests' wishes.

Don Black on Oct 2018:

Actually staying in a neighborhood. VERY quiet. Great hosts, breakfast, accommodations.
Nothing really. Only challenge if you want to call it one is they are a bit out of the way of town and you have to plan your taxi/uber trips earlier than normal. Way worth the price/value!
Keep it up. Good to have someone that has actually stayed in the locations.

Anita's B&B was a welcome retreat from the hustle and bustle of the central part of the city. It was very comfortable and relaxing. The patio was wonderful. The description of the hike up the hill is accurate but can be done. The location to the metro is very easy but again it is a hike. The owner spoke several languages and was very helpful.
Every one showering at the same general time seems to be a problem with hot water.
A very good experience. We will use them again in the future.

The friendly, homely atmosphere, the quietness at night and stunning view over Barcelona.
Nothing really.
Excellent service.Second time used and reliable honest appraisals on both times. Thank you.i
Megan and Steven Lashley on Jul 2013:

We loved having breakfast ready to go in the morning, the beautiful view from the upstairs bedroom balcony, the comfortable bed, and the friendly host and other guests.
It's a little far from the city so that could be either a downfall or really good depending on what you want. For us, we loved being further away from the city.
Easy! Very happy with the results!

LOVED Anita's! Such a quaint, clean, and friendly place to stay. The food was delicious, and the proprietors were incredibly helpful. The only downside was the location being rather a good distance away from the city--but it had a beautiful view!
