Passeig de Gràcia Terrace 42
The Passeig de Gràcia apartments are seven apartments all located in the same building, owned by the same person. Manel has four "suite apartments" that are basically identical, as well as three other slightly different apartments, the Passeig de Gràcia Residence, the Passeig de Gràcia Terrace, and the Passeig de Gràcia Penthouse.

The Passeig de Gràcia Terrace 42 is a 2-bedroom, 1-bathroom apartment that can sleep up to 6 people. Each bedroom has a queen-sized bed, and in the living room there is a queen-sized fold-out sofabed. It's beautifully renovated with parquet flooring and brand-new bathrooms and kitchens -- so it both IS and LOOKS sparkling clean! The apartment is furnished and decorated in a tasteful, modern 'minimalist' style. The living room is particularly sunny and bright, as that's the room that opens up onto the terrace.

The terrace is not huge, but it's still big enough to fit a table and chairs, plus a sundeck-type lounger and a few more chairs, and still have room to spare! Plenty of space to enjoy meals outside, have your coffee in the morning and let the sunshine wake you up naturally, enjoy a glass of wine in the evening after a long day, or just lounge around reading or sunbathing. The terrace overlooks the nearby rooftops. This is definitely a perfect 'summer apartment' -- though of course the terrace is enjoyable on any nice day at any time of the year (and Barcelona can be quite sunny and pleasant even in the winter!).

The apartment is equipped with pretty much all the modern amenities you could think of to make your stay comfortable: air-conditioning, WiFi, double-glazed windows (so it stays quiet inside), flatscreen TV with DVD player, CD player, mini-safe, iron, hair dryer, and washer/dryer. Even the kitchen is decked out with everything you could need to make basic meals, like microwave, toaster, electric kettle, American coffee machine, and a dishwasher. For families traveling with small children, the owner also offers the use of a crib and a highchair for free (upon request).

The Terrace apartment is located on the 4th floor of the building (with a modern elevator). The building, which is rather small, has Manel's seven "Passeig de Gràcia" vacation apartments, as well as a few other apartments that are still residential. Manel's office, where he works all day handling reservations and managing the apartments, is on the first floor of the building, which has a beautiful, fairy tale-like Modernist façade.

It's located right on the Passeig de Gràcia, one of Barcelona's most important streets, close to Gaudí's famous Casa Milà (locally called 'La Pedrera', which means 'the stone quarry'), a UNESCO World Heritage site -- a trip up to walk around the maze-like rooftop and see the 'stone warriors' up close is a must (it will remind you of an MC Escher painting)! It's also close to the metro (just 2 blocks from the Diagonal stop), making it very easy to get around the rest of the city from there.

Air conditioning in apartment
My family was there for 2 nights. I was extremely disappointed. Upon arrival the air conditioning in the apartment was not working. The young lady who checked us in set the air to on and set the temperature for us. That evening after dinner, the apartment was extremely warm and the air conditioning was not working. The young lady came up to the apartment, agreed it was very uncomfortable and said they would call me in morning to send someone to fix it. No call all day and upon returning from a full day of sight seeing, the apartment was extremely warm still. I called and was told someone would be over, which did happen. He got air to come on and left. By the time we returned from dinner the apartment was still extremely warm. My entire family was forced to sleep with the balcony doors and all windows open on both nights. The street we were on was very noisy into all hours of the night. I was very disappointed that after talking to Emilia, she said we would be reimbursed some amount, but later was told the air was working. We were with another family, one floor below our apartment and their apartment was extremely cool. It was obvious that our apartment was not adequately cooling. We received no reimbursement, and will be sure to advise trip advisor of the lousy way we were told of some compensation and then received none. I will not advise our family or friends to use your company

The owner responded to this that they're very sorry the guests were dissatisfied and it's true they called because the A/C wasn't working. The man who came into their apartment was the General Director of the apts and he saw that the A/C was set on fan mode. He switched it back to A/C and told them not to touch it. The next morning the guests called saying that it had stopped working the night before, they slept with all the doors/windows open, etc, and so she called a repair company (very expensive to have them come) who came and also said that the setting had simply been switched back to fan. She said she offered a discount in the case that there really was a problem, but isn't going to give a discount when the guests themselves have created the problem - she said the next guests came in that day and never had a problem with the A/C. She also says that after they left they called and asked her to send a pack of pills they'd left in the bathroom to them urgently in France, which they did at their own expense, and the guests never thanked them or offered to reimburse them. She says they were there present in the office (which is in the building) the whole time, responded to all their complaints and requests, and did everything they could to help them.

Apartment is beautiful; terrace is nice; beds are comfortable; quiet. Looks just like the pictures; plenty roomy for four. Subway is very close. We would recommend this apartment to everyone.
Not really anything; this is one of the nicest apartments we have stayed in in Europe. Would be helpful to have a map of the subway and Barcelona in the apartment.
Good! Be sure you pay attention to your arrival time, as they send someone to meet you and thus there is nobody on site to let you in if you arrive early.

The apartment was very nice, clean with a beatiful terrace
The only improvment would be more information about the area and be prepared to be hurried out in the morning you are leaving. Also, the owner called a taxi, which arrived early and we were charged for the time it arrived (which cost us an extra $50!). We arrived back at the hotel less than 5 minutes late, so I believe we were ripped off. My advice is to call a taxi yourself and not depend on the owner to do it.
Admin on 03. Jul 2013:
I don't know what taxi it was but in many places once you call is when the meter starts. I think this is typical worldwide and doesn't reflect on anything the owner did. It may be that you weren't ripped off at all.
